Pros: easy to prepare, tastes great, pretty strong in taste, easy to find
Nothing beats a tall glass of iced tea in my opinion, and Lipton has made it a lot easier to make with their Cold Brew Tea. It's a lot like other Lipton brands of tea bags, but this one is presented in a way that you can make using cold water or ice, and takes a fraction of the time it would take to make iced tea the old fashioned way. It was an easy sell for me, but I wasn't completely sure it would work until I actually put it into practice. Now it is something that is always in the cupboard, and a tasty drink that I can turn to whenever I want to have some iced tea on a moments notice.
The Lipton Cold Brew is sold in a box that is very similar to other Lipton tea, in that it comes in the traditional yellow box with all of the tea bags lined up inside of it. There are 44 tea bags inside the box, and they call each of them "glass size tea bags." Each of the bags is designed to give you one serving of iced tea and it does just that. They say on the box that it is designed for an 8 ounce cup, and that each serving as 15 mg of caffeine. I think that the tea bags work really well in 16 ounce glasses, and I also think that it is strong enough tea that you can re-use the bags on more than one glass.
To make one of the glasses of tea, you just have to pull out one of the bags and get it ready in an empty glass. Then, pour 8 ounces of cold water over the bag and let it "brew" for 3 minutes. I have found that if you dunk it a couple of times, and even stir it that you can make the tea even stronger and get more of the tea spread around in your cold water. The directions go on to state that if you want to make a large supply of tea (2 quarts to be exact), that you should use 8 tea bags, sweeten it to your taste, and then enjoy in probably less than 5 minutes total. Adding the ice last tends to give the best results, and the tea is always strong enough for me. The final recommendation they make is that for best results you drink the tea within 72 hours of making it.
I have really found this Lipton Cold Brew to be a fun and easy way to prepare myself some iced tea. It takes barely any effort, and it is prepared almost on a moment's notice. I normally have a Brita water pitcher in the fridge, so I will pop out one of the tea bags, fill up a glass from the Brita, and if I am really feeling up to it, squeeze in a little lemon as well. The Lipton Cold Brew is being sold at nearly every grocery store around here, and has been easy to track down anytime I needed to make a new purchase, keeping me in continuous stock of iced tea that really tastes great. If you are a fan of iced tea, and want something that can be prepared quickly, I highly recommend giving Lipton Cold Brew a try.
