I have always been a fan of Lipton teas, and Lipton's Herbal Tea in their Ginger Twist flavor is no exception. I like it, and have had a few guests over who also loved the flavor.
Likes That are Noteable to Me:
What I am really liking about this tea, is that I notice with some other brands I have to use 2 tea bags to get through to the strength. While I enjoy many of the Bigelow brand flavors, I do have a problem with many of their teas tasting to light in flavor. I don't experience that with Lipton's Herbal tea in the Ginger Twist flavor. I can steep one tea bag over boiling water, and within a matter of 4-6 minutes as suggested on the box I can sense the aroma, taste the flavor, and not be left feeling like I am drinking a cup of lightly scented hot water. Even this tea's color seems to be richer. When I steep mine for the entire time it comes out a medium gold in color.
Flavor:
I am very picky when it comes to tea. While it may sound that I am a bit harsh, I actually am quite fond of this tea. I enjoy the taste of the orange peel. It work well with the lemongrass flavor. I don't sense any bitterness, or any sour undertones. Mostly what I am feeling is a sweet combination of flavors here. Honestly, most of the other flavors seem to overpower the ginger. I am only sensing a light ginger flavor while consuming this product hot. It does come out a bit more when served cold and over ice. I prefer it hot though, as cold reminds me of a watered down and flat gingerale with hints of herbal tea trying to shine through. I don't like this tea served cold to be honest with you. The ingredients also list corriander as well as chicory root. I can't taste these when consumed hot or cold. That doesn't really seem to bother me though. I also don't sense any cinnamon flavoring, and actually that probably wouldn't appeal to me if I did. I do sense a strong hibiscus flower flavoring. It especially comes out when I use pure Tupelo instead of sugar or sugar substitute. I normally add about 1 Tbs of Tupelo honey. I don't sense any cloves, and maybe only a slight sense of licorice in after taste. I am not sure what the extra flavors are that they don't seem to want to list. The last ingredient would be soy lecithin. Not sure what that is for, maybe a preservative?
I want to also note that I totally enjoy this cup also served without any sugar, Tupelo, or subsitute. If I could pick or change one thing about this tea, I would ease up just a pinch on the lemongrass, and maybe strengthen the ginger flavor.
Overall
Overall, I love the tea. I just don't like it cold.
The serving size for this tea is one tea bag, and it makes 8fl oz prepared. Your getting 20 servings per box. Each tea bag comes wrapped in paper, light paper at that. (I must admit that Bigelow spoiled me with their foil pouch, individually wrapped bags.) Each bag comes with drawstring and tag. To be fair, I haven't experienced any loss of flavor as this product is sometimes left to age in my tea cabinet.
