I bought this product because it's not a wax, it's an acrylic finish.
Acrylic does a few things very well:
Acrylic is usually durable.
Acrylic is most often clear, optically speaking.
Acrylic fills in scratches, chips and pits.
Liquid glass has done all of these things rather well, though I haven't had it on the car long enough to comment too much about durability. I'm one of those that has no problem waxing once a month, though.
The shine Liquid Glass gives my bight-red car is nothing short of amazing. I've tried several other waxes and been happy with them, until I tried this.
It's really no worse than putting on a good wax - you should always pre-clean the surface in question, so I didn't find the application too labor intensive for an auto enthusiast.
The application steps go pretty much like this:
- Wash car thoroughly with dish soap. It will strip the old wax right off without damaging the finish of the clear-coat.
- Rinse very well and dry. I dry with an "Absorber" drying towel. Works pretty well.
- Use a standard wax applicator pad to apply Liquid Glass to the whole car. Doing a section at a time, without waiting a good 5 or 10 minutes for it to dry properly to the finish means it's terribly hard to buff out to a nice shine.
- Buff with a clean, soft 100% cotton towel while wishing I had an orbital buffer. It looks pretty sharp. Buff it some more. Now it looks fantastic!
- Admire the car for an hour or so.
- Apply coat #2 to the front third of the vehicle, because I like a hood that doubles as a bathroom mirror.
Liquid Glass gets visibly better with the second coat, too. As long as you remember to apply, then wait, then buff twice, the shine is fantastic.
Although I didn't consider the application process too taxing, I'm sure a "normal" person who isn't a car enthusiast would find it a little daunting - but then again, people who aren't car enthusiast's probably don't want to spend the time or money Liquid Glass would require.
UPDATE:
After a couple weeks, I washed the car. The dirt and pollen washed off very easily from the Liquid Glass finish and the shine looked fantastic - so I slathered on another full coat and the car looks phenomenal. I doubt I'll try anything else for a very long time.
