| ezmark69's Full Review: Liquid Glass Polish/Finish |
PREVENTED $1500 IN DAMAGE !! I have used Liquid Glass for over 20 years. DO PREP WORK FIRST BEFORE USING IT. Believe me it is hands down, the best regular use wax/polish ever made. I say that because you have to be cautious. I saw another newsgroup discussion that really got into detal on the chemical aspects of Liquid Glass. One is that it is high in solvent. If you use it on a heavily oxidized paint, you might actually ruin the paint. I forget the terminology but it is more of an applied glaze/clear coat than what is considered a traditional wax. I live in nothern Ohio. So come March/April, waxing season begins. If this is your first wax of the year or on a new "old" car, you MUST take your time to prep the finish. Basically a good cleaner or combo cleaner/wax. It sounds cliche', but the best prep I have found before starting the Liquid Glass is to use the old standby, NU-FINISH. It is a decent cleaner without excess removal. Sometimes I often use a second coat.
Then comes the FUN and I mean fun. Liquid Glass is fun to use. Once you have done the prep follow the directions on the Liquid glass. The best thing about it is you SHOULD use it frequently., even weekly. The first few times you use it you may get some streaking. DOn't worry, just keep dry polishing the area. Liquid Glass actually creates a mirror-like clear coat over your paint.
Now about the $1500???? I had a red Mercury Sable, 1988, nothing special but polished the hell out of it enough that people commented on it. One late summer we got a hail storm (small but sharp). The hood, roof and trunk were covered with what honestly looked like chips deep into the red finish, but not dents. I took it to my insurance company and after a little pushing, got $1500 for repainting the hood, roof and trunk.
For the hell of it, I went back over the damaged area with another polish of liquid glass. Guess what the chips were actually in. Even though all the damage disappeared, I felt obligated to return the check.
Another best thing about it. Once you have multiple coats on a car you an completely wax an buff it in literally minutes. YOu can just long wiping strokes, it dries instantly and ready for buffing in miinutes. I had a 66 Impala thtat I could give a complete wax AND buff in under 30 minute s (and not a half-way job)
