Pros: No scooping, A flush of the toilet removes waste from the house.
Cons: High track litter; stench; disgusting cleaning process.
The Bottom Line: Great concept but skip it. The litter is the most tracking on record and the stench is enough to knock over an elephant.

1. The litter is everywhere in the house no matter how often you sweep. I find it in the couch, in my bed, in the dog's bed. You can't walk barefoot in the house without it getting stuck to your foot. This litter finds its way into everything.
2. The ungodly stench when the scoop misses a small piece, or the hand flings feces back in the bowl during the cycle, and the feces are washed and then dried. The smell of cooked feces is not pleasant. It permeates a small apartment and nearly drives me out of the place. Open windows and Oust can't cut through the worst stench you can imagine.
3. God help you if the unit malfunctions. Mine is less than a year old and is malfunctioning on several levels. So far I've had clogs and water problems. Right now the unit won't put water in the bowl and I'm dealing with the smell of mashed cat feces. At 6am, there is no one to call. I won't be able to deal with it until after work. Meanwhile my apartment stinks and the stench is settling into everything.
4. Pregnant people or people with a compromised immune system should NOT use this unit unless there is someone around to do the maintenance or clear a problem. This unit requires disassembly and some pretty disgusting cleaning.
I'm running mine until it is dead, which should be soon, and then going back to a daily handscooping box. I am considering this a $300 learning experience. The people at Cat Genie are nice, but there is still a lot of work to do on this product before this can be called a great item.
