Pros: No more raking poo!
Cons: Expensive. Mediocre durability and craftsmanship.
The Bottom Line: Invaluable machine! I really cannot live without one. I hope Litter Maid works on their craftsmanship to provide a durable and reliable machine in the future.

| burnbabyburn's Full Review: Litter Maid Advanced Deluxe Litter Maid Litter Box |
I don't know where I'd be today if I didn't have the Advanced Deluxe Litter Maid Litter Box....probably scooping poo.
Being a pet sitter, I do enough poop-scooping on a daily basis. So, that last thing I want to do when I come home is scoop more poo.
My Experience
My first Litter Maid purchase was a few years ago. I was skeptical about shelling out all this dough for a fancy poop machine, but at the same time I was fascinated by the concept. I hoped and prayed it would actually work.
It did! And I was thrilled! Having only one cat at the time, I could go for 2 weeks before the poo receptacle was full.
Any problems were minimal. Of course, there was always an incident where the clump of litter would just be too massive for the little motor to handle. You would hear the strained motor chugging away: "I think I can, I think I can, I think I can." Once I caught wind (quite literally sometimes), I'd have to relieve the machine of its duty (no pun intended) while I scooped the poo myself.
As any great thing must come to an end, after about a year, so did my Litter Maid. Surprisingly, it wasn't the motor that had crapped out but the motion sensor. Now, when my kitty used the litter box, the motion sensor didn't register that a cat had made a deposit. Thus, waste accumulated in the box. I'd have to turn off and on the power to indicate the motor to rake.
I immediately bought a new Litter Maid. Yes, I shelled out ANOTHER $100 for a poop machine. After experiencing the joys of a Litter Maid, I can never go back to scooping by hand. Even with its mediocre craftsmanship and durability, it is still invaluable.
Inside the box
The box included: removable litter tray (for easy cleaning) which attaches to the litter machine motor and poo receptacle, disposable plastic poo receptacles, a small cleaning brush, a carpeted litter ramp, and an A/C adaptor.
The disposable plastic poo receptacles are reusable. I've cleaned and reused them many times over. When they start getting flimsy and dented is when I discard and use a new one. I have not had to buy any new poo receptacles since.
The litter ramp is useless. My cat would go out of her way to walk around or jump over it, and consequently flinging even more litter off her paws. It's more trouble than it's worth and takes up a lot of space.
The small cleaning tool included is barely useful. If you want a neat and tidy litter box and can't stand the site of litter in every crevice of the machine and are willing to put in the daily maintenance time to keep up appearances, then this tool may be of some use for you. To me, that defeats the whole purpose of the machine. I don't even THINK about the litter box for several days. When I do tend to it, a 1 ˝ inch brush isn't going to cut it.
The A/C adapter is invaluable. It is essential that this machine operate on an outlet. It does accept D batteries; however, a machine of this size will suck the juice out very quickly. If you have to spend all that time changing the batteries, you might as well just save your money and spend that time scooping poo by hand.
A cat's opinion
My cat readily accepted the bulky litter machine. I'm sure she is thankful that somehow Mommy got it together and can now keep it remarkably clean. The sound of the motor was a little puzzling at first. The puzzlement soon turned in to fascination and she would run to the litter box to watch the show. The show has gotten old now as she merely perks her ears up and probably visualizes the event in her head.
