Pros: Cream filling, price, taste pretty darn good.
Cons: No nutrition what-so-ever, the chocolate coating can be a little hard.
I have been eating these “Little Debbie” snack for a few years as they are always available at my local grocery store. What exactly is a Swiss cake Roll? They are basically a slice of cake, filled with vanilla icing, and rolled with a covering of chocolate. These particular treats come in a 13 OZ box containing 12 cakes twin-wrapped for a total of 6 servings. They are listed at $1.59 on the box but, they are on sale quite often for $0.99 at the store I go to. These are not something you should eat all the time but, for an occasional treat, they are surprisingly quite good. Little Debbie make quite a few snacks and treats if you are not familiar with this name brand. These snacks are my personal favorite that I have tried by them to date.
The first ingredient I taste when I bite into one of these is the vanilla frosting inside. However, you really don’t get much of a vanilla flavor, more like an icing frosting on a cake. I personally would like a little more vanilla because I really like the taste of vanilla. Of course, the icing is still very good and what stands out to me the most as in flavor. The second layer is basically just a slice of chocolate cake. Combined with the frosting is a very tasty combination. The cake is very good and quite crumbly when you bite into it so you may want to have a napkin handy. Basically if you take the top layer of chocolate off and just eat the two layers in the middle you are having a piece of chocolate cake. Now for the top layer of chocolate which is really the only complaint I have with these. I don’t have a complaint about the overall taste; it is just that this top layer can be a little hard around the edges. Not that it looks different or taste different but, while you’re chewing it can tend to clump a little in your mouth. When you reach to grab a cake you will notice sometimes that the top layer will break off in tiny sections. Sometimes these sections will actually fall off the cake when you pick one up so again, definitely eat these with a towel or napkin to catch these pieces and the crumbs. Still, despite the top layer being a little clumpy at times, the overall taste of these is quite good and a little addicting.
The cakes themselves are not very big and you can eat one in just a couple of bites. I highly recommend not eating this snack if you are pretty hungry because you will probably open a second package. This is because they are good and you can eat them so fast. You must remember that these are “snack”. Especially if you have kids eating them as they will probably go back for more if you don’t keep an eye on them.
Each of the packages has two cake rolls in them. Standard serving size:

Total Fat: 12g
Saturated Fat: 6g

To put it bluntly, these are not good for you at all as they have very little protein and no vitamins at all. The top two ingredients are pure sugar and corn syrup. So, if you are on a diet or trying to really watch your weight then you may want to reconsider grabbing a package of these cakes. I doubt that they would do any real harm in slight moderation but, just remember that these are treats and definitely will not give you any of your daily requirements.
These little Swiss Rolls may not be very good for you but, I like them as a quick snack once in a while. They are inexpensive and are always available at my local grocery store for $1.59 (sometimes on sale for $0.99). Since they are wrapped in separate packages (2 each) they are a great little snack for lunches if you take your own lunch to work. Sometimes I will take these to work and others just eat for a fast snack before bed. I know that is bad but, I can’t help it sometimes. This snack is a good deal the only real problem is, they don’t last long. Since there are only 12 cakes in all (6 packages) they won’t last very long if you share them with others or eat them often. Also, don’t eat these if you are fairly hungry because you will probably eat more than one package as they are rather addicting and not real filling. I do recommend these for what they are though as a quick, inexpensive, tasty, snack that you can eat on the run.
