Of course my children had to have this because they have just about every other Little People toy there is. When I purchased it I knew that it was going to be another one of those toys that made too much noise and generally got on my nerves, but then isn't that most children's toys. I didn't mind that much as long as it would be something the children would enjoy and I have to say that they have enjoyed it.
The toy requires 3AA batteries that are not included. It is recommended for children 18 months to 4 years old. The cost is $28.00. The barn folds up to carry all the animals and other accessories inside. It has a little handle so your child can easily carry it around.
The farm comes with the barn/carrier, pig, sheep, chicken, horse, cow, scarecrow, farmer, feeding bins, crops, and a fence that can go around the outside of the barn. There is also a tractor and trailer. The toy makes wonderful barn yard sounds and music. The neigh of the horse is probably what bothers me the most.
The triplets really love playing with the toy and have spent endless hours on the floor learning their animals by asking me which animal they had and what sound it makes. They get to use their imagination while playing with the toy and since they play together it also builds social skills and speech.
My children are pretty rough with their toys and so when the swinging doors to the barn broke I wasn't surprised but when the plastic started cracking on it I felt it wasn't as sturdy as I had hoped. I am not sure what caused the cracking of the plastic so it may have been the children's fault but I feel it is worth noting that the area just near the hinges that allow the barn to be folded up has started to get a crack in it. At this time it is only about an inch long. They have had the toy for over two years now so it has lasted them a while.
