| 77chelle's Full Review: Little People Animal Sounds Farm |
We bought this Little People Farm for our daughter for Christmas. We thought she would like the Little People and the sounds that the toy makes would help her learn about animal sounds. We were right. She is learning about the sounds. They get kind of annoying at times, but she likes it. Most of all she likes playing the Old McDonald song. Which after a while can get old. It is fun to watch her play with it and explore. We like the Little People farm. It keeps my little girl busy so I can get some things done around the house.
The Little People - Farm comes with a horse and a horse cart, a chicken, pig, cow, scarecrow, a windmill, a sheep, a bale of hay, a plastic sack of grain, a weather vane, and the farmer. The barn is a colorful red, the grass is green, and the roof is white. There is a little garden section to the right of the farm that I thought was a nice addition. This barn also opens up in the middle and each animal has a home.
I remember playing with a Fisher Price barn when I was little and I remember it being a lot sturdier and heavier then this barn. If a child were to play really rough with this toy I don't think it would last very long. Of course it has been dropped numerous times and it still seems to keep on ticking.
Let me tell you a little bit about each animals home.
On the left side of the barn the sheep has a little pad of dirt that when you place the sheep there it makes a baaabaaa sound. There is also a sticker of the sheep family in it pen. So the child can associate that particular place in the farm as the sheep home.
For the horse, there is a stall with a white gate. When you open the gate there is a neighing sound. The stall is on the inside of the barn and there is a window for the horse to look out of. There is also a sticker on the wall with a picture of the horses family. Cute!
Next to the horses stall is a place for the chicken. It is a nest of yellow hay. In the middle of the hay, it had a circle that turns from one side to the other. It has a sticker of two eggs on one side and a sticker with a chick coming out of the egg on the other. When you press down on this it makes babababock (chicken) sound.
On the other side of the barn there are two levels. On the upper level is a place for the farmer to sleep. The bed can tilt up to make the farmer fall to the outside of the barn. There is also a sticker with the farmers family upstairs. And don't let me forget to tell you that there is also a little work bench with tools on it. Of course it is just for looks but it gives the impression that the farmer does his work up here.
Downstairs is the cows stall with a cow family sticker. When you open the gate to the cows stall it makes a moooo sound. There is also a window for the cow to look out of. Next to the cows stall is a red pad that can be pressed to play the Old McDonald song. This is also where the big door is to go outside/inside the barn. Next to this is a pig pen. The pig has food in his green trough. Looks like a bunch of green corn. The pig has a sticker on the wall of his pig family as well. His pen leads outside to the garden. Lucky pig. He doesn't have a fence. LOL! :)
When we got this toy, is was not assembled all the way. The white fence around the right side of the barn had to be attached. The stickers had to be put on and four AA batteries had to be put into the compartment for them on the bottom. This part of the toy was well thought out because the children can not get into it. The batteries have a screwed in top to it. So it is very easy to assemble. Just make sure you come home with some batteries when you purchase it.
My daughter has had fun playing with this toy. She likes it even more when her cousin, who's almost three plays it with her. Even her big brother will join in on the fun at times. She doesn't seem to play with it for longer then 10 minutes if she is playing by herself. But that is still enough time to get something done around the house.
The Fisher Price barn is a great toy any way you look at it. Sometimes we have to search for all the little pieces that go with it but all in all my daughter really likes to play with it.
