My little 2 year old grandson loves the song "Old McDonald's Farm", so I was delighted to find this great toy at our resale shop! (In fact, he says, "Let's go to Old McDonald's Farm when he means, McDonald's hamburger place.
All the pieces were still there. The animals include a horse and pony, cow. sheep and lamb, pig and piglet, and chicken. Somehow two other horses joined our herd, too. The hay bale fits in a slot by the stalls in the barn or can be removed, as can the set of three pumpkins. There are four gates that swing open from the stalls and a parking place for the tractor with a groove so it stays in place. A half door swings open so it can be driven out. A cart attaches to the rear of the tractor.
There are two floors to the barn itself. A hole in the second floor will allow hay to be tossed down from the mow above. Two doors open on the second floor where the hen roosts in a molded nest.
The openings on the barn allow children to reach in from the outside of the barn when it is closed up. There are four window openings and two doors. Above is one large opening and the arched double door opening.
The barn closes and latches to carry the barn and four fence pieces, animals, farmer, and tractor-cart. However, sometimes a piece may fall out of the openings, so you have to be careful not to lose something if you take it out of the home.
The brightly colored barn, green grass, white roof, and cute faces on the animals make this toy a winner. It encourages imaginative play which is so important to little ones. I would recommend this toy to any child two years, maybe 18 months, and up. It is durable and compact when closed. I hear the cow mooing so better finish this up. Time for milking.
