| lovetodraw's Full Review: Little People Big Top Train |
My two year old daughter, Courtney, absolutely loves the circus, so when I saw the ads for the Little People Motorized Big Top Train , I knew that I would soon be purchasing one for her for Christmas.
I bought the train for $20.00 online at etoys.com. When it arrived I had to force myself to put it away without opening it. It looked like it would be alot of fun, but Courtney would be the judge of that.
After all the gifts were opened on Christmas morning, I began to assemble the train. This took about five whole minutes! Basically it was taking the parts out of the box and inserting 3AA batteries in the bottom of the train. Now we were ready to play!
The train itself is made of durable plastic and is very colorful, with bright orange, green, red, blue, and yellow designs. The tires are a bright purple. There are two main pieces to the train, the engine and the caboose. The train also comes with three figurines, a monkey, a lion and the ringmaster. Some of the smaller pieces include a yellow fence, a blue high-wire, a blue ring for the lion to jump through and a base for a figure to stand on.
The engine has a blue smoke-stack, that when tilted forward becomes a human(or Little People) cannon. To operate the cannon you simply place one of the figures inside and press down slightly. To shoot the person out of the cannon you press a small blue button on the back of the cannon. Don't worry about them going too far though, they only go about an inch away!
The first car on the train can be used to store the fence when the train is moving. When not moving it flips open to become the circus ring complete with a bouncy trampoline on one side and the center ring on the other. The center ring has a peg on which the figurines can be placed. On the side of the center ring there is a hole to place the high wire in. When the button located in the seat of the engine is pushed circus music plays, the center ring spins and the high wire moves back and forth.
The caboose of the train is a cage where the lion can be kept when the train is moving. The side of this cage opens up to become a ramp to get the animals in or out. The roof of the caboose lifts up to become a trapeze. The trapeze has a peg also so that you can put the monkey on it, however Courtney likes to put the ringmaster on it!
To make the train move you simply push the button located in the seat of the engine. The train can either go straight, or in circles by moving the yellow tab located on the front of the engine to the side. When this button is pushed the train not only moves, but plays circus music as well! To turn the train off you simply push the button again or it automatically stops after about 20 seconds.
After having the train for almost a month now, I can honestly say that this toy is marvelous! Courtney plays with it almost everyday for at least an hour either performing a circus or heading off to the next town!
