I have to admit that purchasing toys for my daughter is just as much fun for me as playing with them is for her. When I go to the store, I immediately hit the toy aisle to see what new goodies have arrived on the shelves! Over time, I have come to like certain toy brands over others, and V-Tech is definitely one of my favorites. When my daughter was a little over six months old, during one of my whimsical toy shopping sprees, I picked up the V-Tech Little Smart Baby Blossom.

Cost

I found the V-Tech Little Smart Baby Blossom at my local Wal-Mart for $9.99. I'm not sure if it's just my Wal-Mart, but this particular toy and the V-Tech Little Smart My Butterfly are found in the baby aisle, and not the toy aisle.

The Blossom Basics

One of the first things that attracted me to the V-Tech Little Smart Baby Blossom was it's adorable smiling face and vibrant purple color. The purple was the only color variety available on the shelf, although I did notice that Epinions has a picture with a differently colored one.

The Baby Blossom is made of a very durable, yet rather hard (will get to that later) plastic. As I mentioned previously, the one that I purchased is bright purple with a bright orange back. The Blossom is in a circular shape, and is supposed to resemble the shape of a flower with a handle on the right side. The Baby Blossom has well detailed moldings of flowers, butterflies, leaves and music notes on the front that little ones can delight in touching. On the back of the Baby Blossom are more molded designs such as a lady bug, 1-2-3 as well as more music notes, butterflies and flowers.

The most prominent feature of the V-Tech Little Smart Baby Blossom would have to be the bright yellow smiling face! This cute little smiling face is like much of the Baby Blossom in that it's cheeks, mouth, eyes and eyebrows are molded. Unlike the other molded designs, the mouth and eyes are colored in, with the mouth being pink and the eyes being blue. In the center of the face is a blinking red nose that flashes when turned on, as well as in time with the music, laughter and phrases.

To the left of the brightly colored face is a window with a smiling bumble bee and green worm! The easy to move yellow switch can be moved over either the bee or the worm, changing the song or phrase to be played:

**Green Worm: says "Smile!" and then plays "Ring Around The Rosie"
**Bumble Bee: says "Hello Baby!" and then plays a song that I am not all that familiar with!!

The bumble bee is yellow with white wings and black stripes, set against a mauve background. The work is grass green and set against a sky blue background.

Below the bee and worm is a bright green spinning butterfly. With its molded design, the butterfly spins easily under babies touch. To the right of the spinning butterfly is a spinning lady bug ball in colors of green and mauve. The spinning ball plays short bursts of melodies when spun.

On the very top of the V-Tech Baby Blossom are the controls. You can choose voice mode (a smiling face) or music mode (music notes). The only difference that I can tell between the two modes is that when on voice mode, the bee and worm not only say a phrase and play a song, but they giggle too.

The Baby Blossom is very durable. Despite the abuse it receives, including throwing, banging and being walked on, it shows no signs of wear and tear. It is easily cleaned with a wet cloth and mild soap.

My Complaints

While my daughter loves this toy, I do have two gripes about it. Until my daughter was older, I had to hold the V-Tech Little Smart Baby Blossom for her since it is rather heavy. Because of its heaviness it was hard for her to not only pick up, but to hold on to as well. She would drop it over and over again, and then would give up in frustration. Since this toy is for infants, why not make it a little bit lighter?

My second complaint is the fact that while it is durable, it really is too hard for an infant. I cannot recall the number of times my daughter wound up banging herself in the head, leg, or various other body part, causing her to scream bloody murder. Again, if this is a toy for an infant, why not make it for an infant!

Hailey's Epinion

While her words are limited to mama, dada, dog, bird, hey and huh, Hailey can express herself through her actions very well. Despite my minor complaints, my daughter has been delighted with the V-Tech Baby Blossom and still plays with it at a year old. The music, fun voices and bright colors keep her intrigued!

Overall Opinion

I would, despite my gripes, certainly recommend the V-Tech Little Smart Baby Blossom. It's been a wonderfully durable and fun toy that my daughter has enjoyed playing with time and again!
