Pros: Lights up, makes noise, plays music
Cons: Very annoying to adult, loud, heavy
My daughter got this toy as a gift when she was only 4 months old. She really liked it then, and still enjoys playing with it now.
There are two modes on the ball- one that plays music (I think they are nursery rhymes) and one that plays animal noises or says phrases, depending on which button you push. There are buttons all around the ball with bright colored pictures of animals like a puppy and a kitten, and a man and a woman. When you press the button of the woman, she says "hello baby" and when you press the button of the man he says "bye-bye." (when the toy is in the "phrase mode" only. When the toy is in the "music mode," pushing the buttons just changes the music.)
My daughter loves this toy, and I absolutely HATE it! I find the toy very noisy, even with the volume adjusted to the lowest setting. My daughter likes to push the same buttons over and over again so all I hear is "hello, baby" like 12 times or the dog barking with an annoying voice saying "puppy." And if we put the ball in the music mode, she still pushes the buttons and then you hear the same bit of music played over and over again.
I know my daughter likes it, so I still keep it around, but it doesn't keep her attention for very long (not that anything does). I must admit that I always hide it on the bottom of the toy chest and hope she doesn't find it. Since the ball is very heavy, she needs help pulling it out. I really don't think there are very many redeeming qualities to this toy. I would not personally buy it for my child, and I curse the people who gave us such a loud and annoying "gift" whenever my daughter points at the ball.
