This swing, designed for ages 9 months to 4 years, was recently recalled by Little Tikes, in cooperation with the Consumer Product Safety Commission, after 14 incidents were reported. Five of these involved a small child falling from the swing, and being injured.

These swings are brightly colored plastic-- a blue seat, with a large, red T shaped restraint, which goes across the chest/tummy area, and between the legs of the child. It comes with four yellow ropes for hanging.

The problem seems to be the buckles on the shoulder restraints, which break, and then pull through from the back. The red plastic part then flips down. This leaves the child with NO restraint, and allows them to fly from the seat.

The model number involved in this recall is : 4117-00, which is molded underneath the seat. On the red restraint part, in the middle, it has the "Little Tikes" logo. The swings involved (and only these, apparently) have blue or white buckles.

The recall was announced in October, but retailers (even very large ones) often are unaware of recalls, for whatever reason, and these swings may be mixed in with the newer models. Please check carefully to see which it is before buying it!

If you do find a recalled one, PLEASE tell the retailer. Often, they just don't know, and are very quick to pull all remaining ones on the sales floor.
