Toddlers love to have seating designed for their size. So do adults, but most furniture is made for us. Lauren's grandparents felt that Lauren would enjoy having a pint sized table to use outside. For her second birthday (10/01) she received Little Tykes Easy Store Table as a gift.
Lauren loved it! She was able to swing her legs around the bench herself, could reach the table comfortable while sitting on her bottom, and if she scooted forward on the bench, she can touch the ground with her feet! She still enjoys it!
We keep this outside year around. It is on our porch so we pass by her Little Tykes Easy Store Table whenever we leave the house or come home. She frequently, almost daily, jumps on the porch and runs to the table. She "reads" her daily report from day care there and waits for Shiloh, the dog, to have her time outside. Lauren prefers the side nearest the house so she can watch the yard.
Details!
The Little Tykes Easy Store Table is very colorful. The base section is blue, the benches are red, and the table itself is yellow. They are vibrant colors. Ours is not kept in the sun so I cannot say if sunlight fades the colors.
Little Tykes Easy Store Table is made of solid thick plastic. It is very sturdy. Many adults have sat at the table for brief amounts of time without any signs of poor manufacturing. The adults did not sit with their legs under the table due to lack of space. Little Tykes website states that the table will seat up to six children comfortably.
Measurements
Little Tykes website also lists the following as the actual measurements. 42" length, 38" deep and 19.75" high. When I measured, the top of the bench is ~11" off the ground, the top of the bench to the bottom of the table top is ~8". There is plenty of room for Lauren and her friends to grow and still be able to use this.
Little Tykes Easy Store Table folds for easier storage. The website lists the box dimensions as 43.25"L 10.75"D and 22.75"H. Your storage space would be slightly less than that considering the cardboard box.
Putting it together
I was able to do it myself in less than five minutes! It took some strength to get the second side to lock. The following is from Little Tykes website for assembly instructions:
Place product on level ground.
When temperatures fall below 0 degrees F, outdoor use is not recommended. In extreme cold, plastic materials lose resilience and may become brittle and crack upon impact. Store product in a warmer, protected place.
Maximum weight 200 pounds per side. Limit 6 children.
There are picture instructions. 1: Fit base legs into openings on bottom of table. 2: Slide legs up into upright position. 3: Position bench over base legs. 4: Slide bench onto base legs by placing into openings. 5: Slide plastic strap until it reaches latch. 6: Slide legs outward until straight and is plastic strap is locked into the latch.
I found it easier just to look at the item and figure it out. The picture directions are somewhat confusing.
Care
I don't need to worry much in southern Virginia about the temperature warnings.
Clean up is easy. We hose it down for deep cleaning and wipe with a damp cloth for basic cleaning. The plastic is not smooth, so small particles of dirt and pollen can hide when wiped down. The hose cleans it well and the plastic can withstand harsh spray and dish detergent.
Overall
I must say that Little Tykes Easy Store Table has far exceeded my expectations. I thought we would use it occasionally for extended play outside. Lauren tends to gravitate to the table. She eats, reads, and plays at the table.
Little Tykes Easy Store Table is a wonderful addition to outside toys and great for picnics and eating outside.
