Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest 7906/7907 is huge! Plenty of room for all of the toys my children have and used to leave lying around everywhere. We already owned the smaller version of Little Tikes Toy Chest but after our third child was born, we knew it was no longer large enough to hold all of the toys.
Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest 7906/7907 is not only bigger, but better. The chest comes in either pink and white or blue and white. We bought the pink and white version for our daughter, and gave the older toy chest to our son. However, since he keeps acquiring new toys, we plan to buy the blue and white one for my him for Christmas.
The chest has a bright pink top, and base, while the body of the chest is white. On the front of the box there is a small red oval, with a white center, and in blue letters it says little tikes. Unlike the chest in Epinions picture ours is the version that has pictures etched into the front of the base. There is a baby doll, a Teddy bear, toy airplane, and things like that. The top is made with a smooth semi-circle cut out groove that serves as the handle. The top sits securely on the base with a type of tongue and groove look, the lid is made to fit into grooves on the base. It does not just lay flat, the top fits snugly.
A great feature of this Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest 7906/7907 is that the top is not attached to the base. I like this because I can take the top completely off the chest when my children are playing. This way I do not have to worry about the top coming down on my children's heads or fingers. Since they like to climb in and play from the inside of the chest, I also don't have to worry about anyone accidentally being shut in.
Sturdy and well made, this toy chest is aptly named giant!! The measurements of the toy chest are, approximately 39 inches long, with a width of 23 inches and a height of 22 inches. This means you can pack away a lot of toys. A clean floor at last, for a little while anyway. Because the chest is quite deep, I do have to help my son get toys that are on the bottom. My daughter (at 46" tall)is tall enough that she can reach all the toys without help. Since the least played with items tend to be on the bottom, this is not a big problem.
Made of strong molded plastic the Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest 7906/7907 weighs a hefty 32 pounds!! That is more than my 21 month old weighs. This is a big heavy toy chest. Being this heavy, my children are not able to tip it over and dump it out, this was a problem I had with the smaller toy chest.
Since this toy chest is in my children's room, I have never really had to clean it. When my kids do leave sticky prints or write on it with a crayon or marker, it cleans off easily with soap and water.
Recommended for children from birth through age 7, I found this age range to be appropriate. I asked my nieces who are 7 and 9 what they thought of the chest. The 7 year old thought it was pretty, and said she would use it if she had one. The 9 year old thought it looked babyish, she was too mature to consider having one in her room. For this reason I chose "other" for age range, there was not an appropriate choice in the age range of child list.
There are no tools required to assemble this toy chest.
My daughter loves her Little Tikes Giant Toy Chest 7906/7907 and cleans her room now without a fuss. Most days anyway. Now that there is plenty of room for all the toys, the job goes quicker and everyone is happier. Especially Mommy! I recommend this toy chest for anyone that has children who own a lot of toys. This toy box is big and sturdy enough that we will be able to use it for years. Although it takes up a fair amount of space, it utilizes less space than the previous box with toys piled around it used to take up. Everything is neater and has a place.
