Not a Safe Swing

The Bottom Line: Get the new and improved version, the "2-in-1 Snug & Secure". It doesn't have the lap belt and is more safe for your child.

This High Back Swing is made by Little Tikes. I purchased this swing two years ago for my oldest child. The problem I had was with the lap belt. It is a very bad design. My oldest child was scared of heights so I didn't worry to much about it. However, when my second son was big enough to use it, I put him in. NO MATTER HOW TIGHT the lap belt was, he would scurm his way out of it. Three days after his 1 year birthday, he scurmed his way out of it and fell 3 feet (head first) onto our concrete patio. Mind you, he was supervised, but it happened so fast that there was nothing that could be done. We got very lucky. All he got was a massive scratch on the forehead and cut across his nose.
I believe Little Tikes knew about this poor design and the potential problem it could (and has) caused. I noticed that Little Tikes has created another swing with a much better design. This swing is royal blue in color and has a red "swing up" t-bar that swings up between the child's legs. The name of this swing is the 2-in-1 Snug and Secure. Instead of the lap belt, this swing has shoulder straps that lock into the swing up leg divider. There is NO way that even the most active of children could scurm out of this one. The cost of this one is about $20.00 at Wal-mart compared to the old style teal green one which runs about $14.96 at Wal-mart.
PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, I BEG YOU..... GET THE NEW AND IMPROVED VERSION. Not only is it more safe for your child, it is much simpler to put the child in and get the child out of.
Please trust me. I had to learn the hard way and I don't want to see any child (or parent) go through what I went through.
