The Bottom Line: We have been very happy with this swing. If I had to go out and buy another swing I would want to buy this one again.

| heathers_mom's Full Review: Little Tikes High Back Toddler Swing |
My finance received this swing for his third child. It was a present from his parents. This child LOVED the baby swing that was in the house so what the heck, why not have a swing out side too. Well, it was a great choice. This child is now 2 1/2 and STILL loves this swing. The only problem is that she now has a younger sister that is 1 and also LOVES this swing. Thankfully the 2 1/2 year old is learning how to swing on the regular swings.
This swing is very nicely made. The yellow ropes spread out on the bottom to attach to the swing in 4 places. 2 on the back and 2 on the front. This makes it nearly impossible to tip the swing upside down. The swing is made of hard green plastic. There are no moving bars that go up and down which is nice. This way the child doesn't get hit in the head with a bar and there is now way to catch their fingers in it either. There is also a seat belt that hooks in front of the child- just like the kind in strollers only without the part that goes between the legs. There is a hard plastic part of the swing instead that will keep the child from slipping out the front of the swing.
Another plus is that this swing will hold a child up until 50 pounds. Now, I couldn't find this info out without contacting the manufacturer through e-mail. It only took 3 days for them to get back to me on the weight info, but I e-mailed them on a Friday and they got back to me the next Monday. Not bad at all. This info may be on the box or part of the instructions, but by the time I needed to know, I never saw the box. (You figure this swing has been used for a while before I started using it.) For the same reason I also haven't had to put the swing together, so I'm not sure how assembled it comes.
I started putting my daughter in it last spring (2000). She was born at the end of August of 1999 so this was her first real experience with this swing. Her older sister had been using it forever and it was very difficult to get her to share it at first. My daughter was sitting up by the time she tried it out. There is no padding at all, so it may be uncomfortable to use it before the child can support themselves pretty good on their own. This was the perfect solution to my problem last spring. I had 4 kids that all wanted to be outside. The older 2 still needed to be pushed occasionally on the swings and they of course never wanted to do anything other than swing. I had no where to put my daughter except in the stroller. (too many rocks on the ground that she wanted to eat, she was just learning to walk, and I didn't want her crawling under the swings. Being that my attention had to be spread out so much this was great. The location of the swing set didn't make it really possible to bring out the playpen.) Luckily she took to this swing very quickly.
The hardest part about using this swing (other than trying to get the kids to get out of it to go inside) is that now the 2 1/2 year old weighs about 35 pounds (which is why I wrote them on the weight limit for the swing). Lifting her in and out of the swing is not always easy. Also their shoes sometimes get stuck in the leg holes. Not a real big problem though, just annoying sometimes when it is muddy out. (Come to think about it, the 4 and 5 year old could also technically use this swing with a weight limit of 50 pounds. They are about 40 and 45 pounds.)
Over the years this swing has held up very well. The ropes aren't frayed at all and they are still sturdily attached on the bottom. The holes the ropes are pulled through don't look worn at all. (I would recommend checking under the swing for spiders, they seem to like it there under the molded seat.) There is also no waiting for this swing to dry out after it rains or snows. Just wipe off the swing with a towel and put the child in.
