We recently purchase a swing set for our two young children (ages 2 and 15mo). The oldest was just getting big enough for 'big kid' swings, and taller slides than the little stand-alone ones, so we decided the time was right. But our youngest is much more reserved and not near so brave as his sister. We knew he wouldn't attempt the 'big kid' swings even if we wanted him to. We looked around at different baby/toddler swings that we could purchase seperately and attach to the swing set.
The Little Tikes High Back Swing found it's way into my backyard for several reasons. I liked the fact that there was a nice high backrest for my little boy, and the sturdy plastic design was definently a selling point. The icing on the cake, though, was the seatbelt. I've seen other swings where you have to lift the front of the swing up on the ropes, and then take your little one out, all the while trying to keep that front piece from coming crashing down on his head. The swings at the park in our town have the same type 'lock', and I've come to despise them. I always feel like I'm in a one-handed race to get my son out. With the Little Tikes swing, life is much simpler and calmer. =) I simply undo the safety belt and lift him out. I don't have to worry about him trying to jump out while I'm still fighting with the lock, nor do I have to worry about the lock falling on his curly-haired head. Installation was an absolute breeze as well! That was my husband's favorite part. lol
And what do the kids have to say about it??? "Weeeeeeeeeee!" and *giggle* and I've even caught a little *snoooooore* or two. hehe Apparently the swing is just as comfortable as it is safe and fun! For the first time since she decided she was "no baby!", my daughter is actually wanting (and sometimes fighting for) the baby swing. =)
