When my one twin Nicholas kept crawling out of his crib and finally trying to drag his twin brother Ryan out of his crib I finally said thats it we must look for toddler beds. I didnt want the traditional white aluminum kinds. They seemed so cheap to me. Too wiggly and not very sturdy like. I looked and searched and at JC Pennys I found the Sports Toddler Beds for $89 each. I was so happy about it and more thrilled when they arrived at my home! It didnt take long at all for my husband to put the beds together, two of them that is...probably no more then 20 or so minutes each. I believe they already provided you with the monkey wrench needed to put it together. Its all a very sturdy metal and there are four blue metal rods for support for the mattress. The headboard and footboard are primary blue in color and the side rails are red with a scoreboard on it. The headboard shows a basketball, baseball and bat and raquet/birdie. The footboard also has some of these on that as well. Its so great because the side rails can come off if the kids think they are big enough not to need them and they are easy to put on or off. If you temporarily want to take the one side off and sit on the bed yourself along with your child to read before bedtime you surely can. Not that Im proud to say Im an overweight mom but it held me and both my twins while reading! That's how sturdy this is. Of course "I" wouldnt jump on it. The bed is not too high and I'd say about a foot from the floor. The mattress of course is from the crib so no need to buy a new one because the crib mattress fits right on it. Its a great transition for the babys going into their toddlerhood. I had redone their bedroom in the sports theme and when I saw these beds I absolutely had to buy them both. Everything now matches; their beds, curtains and walls etc. I say why not spend a few extra bucks for a very sturdy let alone Little Tikes name which I truly trust and is always durable, then to have just gone out and bought a cheap "aluminum" one that is so shakey. This is two purchases I wont ever regret!
