michelle7898's Full Review: Master Heaters Liv Fashion Doll African American -...
This doll was given to my daughter for her seventh birthday. Up until now my daughter was a huge fan of Barbie Fashion Fever dolls. She was in to Brats and other dolls. But nothing as much as Barbie Fashion Fever. I think getting the Liv African American Alexis fashion doll may just have changed that trend. My sister gave it to my daughter. She asked me what to get for her and I mentioned it because I knew it was on sale at Kmart for $13.99 and is average $20.00 or more. My daughter had expressed interest after seeing the commercial a few months ago.
Details and facts:
The Liv African American Alexis fashion doll has 14 points of articulation for greater pose ability then any Barbie out there on the market. Her neck and head move all the way around, her hands are fully movable as are her elbows and shoulders. You can also pose her feet, knees and upper legs in most positions too. It is amazing how easy this doll is to pose and move in to any position that you want to put her in. This doll stands at roughly 12 inches tall. She comes wearing a pale pink shirt with designs on it, with a darker pink half shirt over it. Her pants are denim jeans type pants. This doll has large dark gray like colored boots with a slit up the side on each one. Her eyes amaze me, they are realistic. They look like glass.
The Liv African American Alexis fashion doll comes with two wigs. The hair that comes on her head is long and dark brown in color with some red highlight to it. It flows in a slightly wavy manor. The extra wig comes on a doll wig stand and is shorter but still at shoulder length and is curly with a red head band over it. The wigs can be put on or taken off easily. There is a flexible peg that goes from the inside of the wig in to the hole in the dolls head. Under the wig when there is no wig on the doll's head her hair is painted on and neck length. So with one doll you have three hair style choices and of course can fix the wigs any way you like for even more options too.
Also along with what you get above. You get the pink doll sized hair brush to maintain and keep the doll's hair looking great. You get a hand bag for the doll to carry that is pretty trendy too. It is brown and tan with fake zippers slanted in the front and really opens up at the top too. The doll wears hoop earrings that do come out. All Liv dolls are made at the same size so she can swap clothing if your child has more then one doll. My daughter does not yet, but she will this Christmas. I went and bought more.
Oh one key thing I forgot to mention was that you get more then just a doll and it's accessories when you buy Liv dolls. They come with an on line secret code. Your child can go on the Liv Girls web site and enter the code for access to dozens of games and activities such as matching games like memory, spot the difference, make overs and many more. Do not throw away the box the doll comes in. the code is under the peel sticker on the inner box. The box has a flap that opens in the front you will see the sticker through it but can't access it until the doll is opened.
The age recommendation:
This was shocking to me. The age recommendation on this doll is for children ages three years old and over. I feel differently about it. I think five and over would be more accurate, however, that is my opinion. I feel this way because there are choking hazards. The doll has small parts such as her earrings, shoes, purse and head band that could be of a choking hazard to small children. Just keep this in mind please.
The use:
It has been a few weeks since my daughter got the Liv African American Alexis fashion doll. She adores it. It has become a part of her basic daily play. She even tucks it in her back pack and keeps her in there for recess and plays with her friends with the doll. I would say that Emmily uses her Liv doll at least a few hours every day if not more. She plays on the site that the code gave her access to for an hour each day as well. It would be more but her computer allotment at age seven is an hour per day. This is just my rule to keep her active and not become a statistic child that is glued to a screen 24-7. I think if I let her she would play for hours on end though.
My thoughts and recommendation:
The Liv African American Alexis fashion doll is the best. I hate to see my daughter get out of her main hobby of collecting Fashion Fever dolls, but it is nice to see her in to some thing new at the same time too. She really loves her LIV doll and has asked on her list for Santa for the rest. Little does she know they are bought and wrapped. I was lucky enough to get the rest still on sale and bought them along with extra out fits at great prices. I can't wait to review those too.
This doll was a huge hit with my daughter, her friends are very envious of her for having it. This is a hot line of dolls this holiday season. I would recommend buying one as soon as you can to ensure your special little girl gets one for Christmas. It is certainly a low cost fun gift to give. I do recommend it.
