I’ve always carried super glue of some type around with me. You know you can do all kinds of cool stuff with super glue. It originally started of as a CYA because of my wife’s porcelain figures. Saved my kester a few times. I.e. the lamp that got in the way of a perfectly good nerf football pass.

But wait there’s more. You can use it in place of a band-aid to close wounds. You can stick your brother’s hands to the office chair when he's asleep. And I once formulated a plan to turn my neighbors living room upside down, lashapso included. My wife was not to thrilled with that idea and I ended up having to take all that super glue back to work.

Anyway. A little bottle of this Manco loctite was in my coat pocket a couple years ago when Mr. SUV-Cellphonegluedtoear backed into my plastic enclosed motor-sikle. The whole tail of the bike broke into pieces and aside from looking bad made it impossible to ride. You gotta consider that the plastic housing holds the tail lamp in place.

While Mr. SUV was making a hasty exit I was left with an inoperable bike a few hundred miles from home/shop/work. I sat there for at least an hour taking the bike apart and refitting all the pieces. Luckily there was a drug store right there so I ran in and grabbed a box of baking soda. I then proceeded to re-assemble the body work with the Manco Super Glue. A lite coating of baking soda on the backside of the plastic, or the side not seen, absorbed the excess glue and also forms a rock solid bond that’s stronger than super glue alone. A torn up red shop towel applied in small strips with the same treatment on the backside of the plastic for reinforcement ensured a strong panel. It took awhile but it got me back on the road.

My original intention was to replace those broken parts when I got home, but some light sanding and touch up paint made the plastic look like new. That was a couple years ago and the Manco is still holding up. I don't know if it’s any better than other glues out there, but its worked well for me. Now I just hope the wife don't read this and find out about the lamp.

OK. Now here’s some good information from the Material Safety Data Sheet so you kids at home know better than to do like the funny man on the internet. Super glue is some pretty strong stuff, so please leave the playing with it to the pros.
