joni4ta's Full Review: Logitech QuickCam Fusion Web Cam
I bought two of them while my little brother was stationed in Iraq; one for me and one for my husband. And through Yahoo my whole family was able to chat and web-conference; my husband, my father, youngest brother, brother in Iraq, and his wife.
It loaded up nicely, and even though it starts up in my Windows tray, it doesn't seem to be a memory hog like some start-up programs. With full use via USB, it was easy to plug into the back of the PC (no wires hanging around) and basically I was on my way within a few minutes. It fit nicely on the top of my LCD monitor also. And I don't think it has fallen off even once!
It works great in low-light situations with its "Right-Light Technology". I was even able to make a little holiday family singing video for my MySpace page with it and it turned out neat, no special lighting required, and my desk is in a darker area of the room! It has a great "follow your face" technology, so even if you're moving around a bit, you stay centered in the picture. The built-in microphone was awesome, filtered out other noise and paved the way for legible audio to be sent across the globe.
I only played around a little bit with the feature that allows you to turn yourself into and broadcast yourself as a shark or alien. It slowed down my computer some so I just don't use it. I can't blame that on the camera software though, my computer is edging on the outdated side! Also it has a flip-to-the-side privacy shade so even if you forget to turn it off and you're broadcasting, folks out on the net aren't going to catch you in your jammies checking email - instead the privacy screen is in place, and you can also show a gorgeously vivid color image of outdoor scenery if you want in conjunction!
The software can update itself periodically which is great. I hate having to comb the internet looking for new drivers and updates. I do it enough for other programs so it's nice not to have to with this.
