The Bottom Line: The thin, not cumbersome, full-size standard layout having low-profile keys is designed to provide easy, hushed typing; which is nice.
Logitech's MEDIA KEYBOARD is a well-built, reliable item used daily by Osage County First Grade. And, any device which can hold up well when used by not always calm, or astute or really at ease Little Users must be well made, sturdy and dependable.

Logitech is the brand name found most often in the classrooms and computer labs in the school where I teach. I write not so much from the standpoint of a computer or techno geek, as from an older person who has learned to use modern devices and materials in order to keep in touch with family, do my job and move myself into the modern world. If truth were told; I would likely be as comfortable dipping quill into ink pot, however, those days are long gone, and computers and their components are part and parcel of most modern life; mine included.
While the media and internet controls featured allow users to easily play music, control volume and launch favorite websites; those are features used more in the computer labs by the older students. Osage County First Grade works more in classroom on a specific predefined website during their computer period. An icon placed on the desktop is clicked by the student leading to their particular lesson for the day. Headphones monitor and control sound intensity.
The thin, not cumbersome, full-size standard layout having low-profile keys is designed to provide easy, hushed typing; which is nice. Our classroom computer set up features 3 computers with monitors and keyboards; it is placed directly behind my own work station to facilitate my monitoring and helping as needed. Loud clickety clack is not a problem as Little Computer Geeks work their way through the daily lesson. Our keyboards fit nicely on the available table top surface with plenty of room between the three.
In addition to the PC available for my use our school also provides teachers with a laptop, I'm not fond of laptops and especially not fond of the keyboards they offer. I have added a Logitech keyboard to my bag for the instances when we must bring the laptop to meetings. For reason's known only to my own hands and arms I prefer my keyboard to be sitting at a more pronounced angle than do most users, the built in legs even when positioned do not really lift the keyboard to my best height and I do use an ergonomic gizmo to help lessen wrist and hand stress.
While we do not teach key boarding per se in First Grade, I am pleased that the keyboards used by Little Computer Geeks does mirror the keyboards they will be using throughout their educational and likely work life. Keys are black with white letters, I do place a small red dot on the shift key to facilitate Little Computer Geeks as they type in their name password.
The F1 - F12 keys are placed above the letters keys and special keys allowing key access to internet and email, pause, play or mute music, increase or decrease volume as well as return to home, put the PC into sleep mode or utilize handy calculator are placed above them; none of these are used by Little Computer Geeks, thus they are not important for Osage County First Grade.
For office or home usage by those who may work with a cup of liquid nearby the durable spill-resistant design is no doubt an advantage. Little Computer Geeks do not use computer with any liquid nearby thus the feature is not one which really impacts our usage. The keyboard I have for usage with my own classroom PC is another Logitech, it too is not used with liquid nearby, however I do like the easy access to calculator, email, and the sleep mode feature.
I like too the uncomplicated plug-and-play USB connection capability, the keyboard is simply plug into port and use with our Windows-based PCs in the classroom. I am not completely comfortable with all things computer, the less hassle I encounter when setting up a work station the happier I am.
Happy to recommend Logitech's MEDIA KEYBOARD
Those of you with more computer knowledge than have I will understand when I say the Logitech keyboard also works with Linux
