Pros: Awesome features, extremely accurate, and awesome color schemes. The King of mice!
Cons: It's a little pricey, but the price is warranted by it's great features.
The Bottom Line: Need a really, really good mouse? This is the one for you. It may be a little much for casual users, but you'll still love it.

When I saw the MX510 in the store, I immediately thought three things. First, what a wacky shape. Second, what a high price for a mouse. Third, where's the blue one?? Well, my third thought was immediately taken care of after I found the blue model behind the red, and after I got it home, the first two thoughts were immediately replaced with: this mouse is the greatest.
When you first see the MX510, one thing that stands out is the price tag. Don't get me wrong, it's worth the cost, but to the casual user, up to $50 in retail stores is a little bit of a turn-off. The selling point is though, that this mouse has all the features you would ever want, and none that you don't. First, is all those extra buttons. On the sides there is a forward and a back button for internet browsing, which I use very, very often. Above and below the scroll wheel there are buttons, which will advance the page up/down as the scroll wheel would. Finally, there's a button which supposedly switches between documents, although it doesn't work for me (I didn't install the Logitech software though, which is probably why).
The shape, is kind of funky when you first start to use it. I've used a standard Logitech optical mouse for about three years straight, and I was very used to it. The MX510 took a little bit to get used to, but now mousing is much more comfortable. The shape also lends itself to the additional buttons on the side. If it weren't for the thumb grip, you'd probably be bumping the back/forward buttons all day long.
Performance is exceptional. Did you ever have an optical mouse, that if you moved it VERY fast to either the left or right, the cursor would stay in the same spot and shake a little? Well, that's common on optical mouses - until now. The MX510 has such fine precision, that it will never, ever, ever, ever do this. On top of that, it offers the finest precision on any optical mouse available. Not that you really need a mouse that is accurate to the 1/10000th of an inch, but it's nice to be able to brag about how much better your mouse is ;)
As for the bundled software, I really can't give any sort of review on that. I've found that many times when you install the manufacturer's software, it gets kind of funky with games. Instead of the game seeing a standard "Mouse", which it's used to, it will see a "Logitech MX510 Optical Mouse". This may not be a problem in some instances, but if you have a game that may need the center wheel to do something, it may not work correctly. Using Window's standard mouse driver isn't a problem at all though; the mouse still retains all of it's functionality (except for the document flipping button), and extreme accuracy.
