Pros: Great quality and image saturation
Cons: No video driver supplied by Logitech for OS X
The Bottom Line: Great camera that has all you need for video conferencing and to record small snippets. Certainly still competes with its sucessor Logitech QuickCam 4000.

| kaipradel's Full Review: Logitech QuickCam Pro 3000 Web Cam |
This will be a quick review. There simply isn't much to say about webcams other than a comment or two about handling, image quality and driver support.
Handling
The first point is - unfortunately - one of the weak points about the camera. It is mounted in an odd joystick type molding which is not very sturdy. The base that it's mounted to is fine but getting the camera to look at you might be a bit of a struggle. The supplied cable is about 10-12 feet long, sufficient for just about any use. I have added another 5 feet usb extension cable to get broader angles.
Image Quality
The Logitech 3000 is by far one of the best cameras out there. Although replaced by the Logitech 4000, this camera is impressive and a great buy at around $50. I have found that none of these sub $100 cameras will do a great job in low light, but this one seems to deliver the best results.
Don't expect DV quality but you can expect good frame rates and an overall good image.
Software Support
I use a Mac and a PC and have found support for Windows to be excellent. The Logitech drivers work well on all versions of Windows. When I bought a Logitech wireless keyboard I noticed that the camera ties in nicely with extra keys on the keyboard.
On the Mac, however, it took a while to find a driver to support the system. There are two main drivers available for MacOS 10.2.x: www.ioexperts.com offers a $20 driver for a variety of cameras. I have found their drivers to deliver the best results. However, after spending a good chunk on the camera I wasn't happy to learn that Logitech did not provide driver support for Apple's three year old os.
The alternative is a free driver by Macam. In version 0.8 I have found it to deliver good results. Links for both drivers are below:
