Being a graphic designer, I'm always looking for ways to improve my productivity as well as ways to reduce my hand stress. The Trackman Marble from Logitech does both!
It's a nice alternative to standard mousing, in that the mouse itself stays stationary and you move the trackball around. The trackball itself has a wonderful location on the mouse, falling right where your thumb is when you naturally rest your hand. As a matter of fact, the whole mouse is ergonomically superior to any other mice I've seen or used. It is the most comfortable mouse I've ever laid my hands on.
Another nice thing about the mouse is the third button. You have your standard left clicks and right clicks, but you also have a middle click which you can assign to do various tasks. I choose to let my middle clicks grab the vertical scrollbar in an open window.
With some programs like word processors you won't notice the difference too much, but I really notice the difference in programs like Photoshop, where you need to have accurate mouse movements, especially when applying masks and the such. This is where the Trackman Marble shines!
Granted, it does take a few days before you feel comfortable with it, but once you get over the hump, you'll NEVER want to go back to a standard mouse. I have two, one at home and one at the office and a friend liked mine so much he bought two as well. It's a must have for any serious power user.
