| anachronism's Full Review: Logitech Trackman Marble Wheel (904334-0403) Track... |
I was wary of switching over to a trackball from my mouse. I'd used trackballs on laptops, and thought that was bad enough, and I'd used a few touchpads, which I found just as bad. But my mouse was dying, my wrists hurt, and none of the ergonomic mice really fit my style.
So I grabbed this trackball.
At first I found it very sensitive, but extremely comfortable. My last mouse didn't have a scroll wheel, and I don't know how I got along without one.
One, of course, can use any pointing device in windows, but I was worried I'd need to switch tools to play my favorite 3D games. With a trackpad, there was no doubt, but my trackball is working out fairly well, though it's not as easy to maneuver as my mouse was, it is a lot more comfortable, and the wheel is nice for quickly changing weapons. It is an interesting option.
And I think someone else mentioned that they don't like using their thumb to roll the ball, but I found it natural, easy to control, and not strenuous at all. I'm not a trackball connaisseur, this one made a great first impression on me. ONe downside is the price, especially if you're used to buying $5 no-name mice. The price is quite steep, but the quality is, as far as I can see, fantastic.
