Pros: Pure, rich sound. Excellent tech support.
Cons: slight problem with volume knob that was resolved
The Bottom Line: I would definitely buy these speakers. Compared to other speakers in this price range, these definitely lead the pack.

| cyber_86's Full Review: Logitech Z-540 4 Speakers |
Before purchasing the Z-540 speakers over 2 years ago, I did extensive speaker shopping. Yes, I'm one of those who goes to the electronics store and pushes the little button for each of the speaker systems to listen to how they sound. It definitely paid off. I purchased these speakers and have been very happy with them. Out of all of the speakers I listened to, the Z-540s sounded the clearest and richest, making most of the others sound somewhat tinny. The bass is also amazing. I crank it up all the way and I'm in audio heaven.
The only problem I've ever had was that the volume knob and one of the satellite speakers got messed up. Occasionally the right speaker (the one with the volume knob on it) would cut out. After day or two I would notice that it wasn't producing any sound (the other speakers made up for it so well that I didn't even notice the change at first!). After jiggling the volume knob, it would go back to normal and last for a few weeks, at which time I jiggled the knob again. I called Logitech about this, and they immediately sent a replacement set of speakers, telling me to keep my mildly defective pair.
In summary:
I definitely recommend these speakers. I don't believe that they are being made any more, so you should be able to get a pair relatively cheap.
