Pros: good price, probably the most bang for your buck when it comes to surround sound.
Cons: doesn't always play well with older sound cards. 10-15ft. cables.
The Bottom Line: Excellent quality for a low price. Great for movies, music or games. Sometimes doesn't cooperate with older or default sound cards, short speaker wires.

| marcdude's Full Review: Logitech Z-540 4 Speakers |
I originally bought these speakers at target for a bit above the normal price. The first time I used them, I found that the left speaker was staticy and it would often times have problems with high notes. As luck happens, I installed a new sound card before returning them and the quality of the speakers jumped through the roof. With my original, default card you obviously didn't get the whole 3D affect. In fact, the rear speakers seriously lost quality and high notes had problems. Now these speakers are excellent for music, movies and games, and the bass is awesome with or without a nice card.
The speaker wires are about 10-15 feet, which could use a little lengthening, but the speakers have good legs for nailing to walls if they're naughty (or if you don't want them on the floor, I'm told). Also, the power light is a piercing little indigo ball of flame. Looks cool at first, but gets kinda old...
If you're a hard core gamer, movie watcher or music listener and you have some confidence in your system (mine is nearly four years old). My new sound card is just a Monster III, so it's not exactly spanking new either. But they really give you a lot of bang for your buck.
