Pros: Hydrates well
Cons: Didn't firm or tighten much, little brightening effect
L'Oreal has changed the name of its older Plentitude skincare line to Dermo-Expertise. I was in need of an eye cream and thought I would try Dermo-Expertise Age Perfect Eye.
~ Product Description
L'Oreal Dermo-Expertise Age Perfect Eye claims on the packaging to be an anti-sagging and ultra-hydrating cream, containing marine collagen and Dermo-Protein, and is designed for mature skin.
Taken from the packaging: "With age, sun damage and hormonal changes, natural support to the skin diminishes and skin starts to sag. Now, Age Perfect Eye adds back support and resiliency to the delicate eye area."
The marine collagen in this formula deeply moisturizes. The Dermo-Protein helps to tighten and promote resiliency. There are skin brightening botanicals to help even out skin tone.
L'Oreal says the benefits of using this eye cream are:
- Instantly brightens eye area.
- Skin is deeply and continuously hydrated with no greasy after-feel.
- Within hours, skin is measurably firmer
- Reduces the appearance of surface wrinkles and fine lines in just 4 weeks.
This product is dermatologist and ophthalmologist tested, is safe for contact lens wearers, and is fragrance free.
The directions for use say to apply in small dots around the eye area and smooth gently until absorbed. Use AM and PM, alone or under makeup.

~ My Experience
Since I do have mature skin, I have been using eye creams for years to help alleviate fine lines and wrinkles, and keep the skin around my eyes hydrated and smooth. I have tried LOTS of eye creams! I have never held out much hope for magical results, but I do know that some work better than others.
L'Oreal Age Perfect Eye is a typical white eye cream with a medium to thick consistency. The little jar is also quite typical; you need to dab your finger in and then apply to the eye area. This cream has no discernible fragrance. It applies very smoothly, and just a tiny bit goes a long way. The jar will last months, I imagine. The cream absorbs nicely, quickly, and leaves no sticky or greasy residue. It definitely hydrates and smoothes the skin around my eyes. Makeup, especially undereye concealer, goes on smoothly over this (after letting it absorb first), which is important to me.
While L'Oreal claims this eye cream will brighten the eye area, I can't see any brightening. Some creams I've used actually do brighten, but not this one, in my experience anyway. I don't notice any tightening or firming really either. I've been using this for a few weeks now, usually once a day but sometimes twice a day. I have had no allergic reactions, skin problems or rashes.
All in all, I much prefer L'Oreal Wrinkle De-Crease Eye, because it is a little thicker, and seemed to tighten and firm better.
~ Final Thoughts
L'Oreal Age Perfect Eye Cream is a decent eye cream and hydrates very well. While it claims to be anti-sagging, I can't say I've seen any improvement there. It didn't brighten or tighten noticeably either. If you are young, then this is a decent hydrating eye cream. (Although L'Oreal says this is for mature skin.) If you need help with lines and wrinkles, and firming and brightening, I would look elsewhere.
