Pros: Great shine and feel, nice colors
Cons: Wand is wimpy, sparkles can migrate, maybe too sparkly for some
I noticed a new display in the L'Oreal cosmetics aisle at my local drug store for their new lipgloss, L'Oreal Glam Shine Dazzling Volumizing Lipcolor. It was on the spendy side, at $7.99, but I really liked the colors, so I splurged.
~ Product Description
L'Oreal tells us this is a "high shine lip gloss infused with shimmer to give your lips incredible depth, shape, and luster. You can wear this alone, or over your favorite lipstick.
The tube is attractively shaped, and holds .20 oz. of gloss. The tube is clear so you can see the color inside. The twist-off cap has an attached sponge-tipped wand. The wand is odd though, because the sponge tip is bent at an angle and feels flimsy. I thought mine was broken at first, but I suppose they've put the angle in for easier application. It works fine, but it just feels wimpy.
The color choices, which all have extreme shimmer and a glittery effect are:
* Prima Donna
* See Shells
Most of these shades are lighter pink, mauve, neutral, beige, peachy type colors. The color I chose, Prima Donna, is a gorgeous pinky-beige shade.
~ My Experience
I found the consistency of L'Oreal Glam Shine to be excellent. It isn't sticky at all, nor is it runny. It has the feel of a liquid lipcolor.
There is a slight pleasant scent, on the fruity side, but no taste that I can detect. The funny little wand works fine, but everytime I pull it out of the tube I think it looks bent and broken.
Although L'Oreal Glam Shine is fairly sheer, it still does have a good deal of pigment and will definitely give your lips some color. But what you'll notice most is the extreme shine and luster. This lip gloss has lots of shimmer pieces, which you can see in the tube. On your lips those shimmer pieces blend together and just give a beautiful, yet dramatic shine.
I'd say that L'Oreal Glam Shine is probably not something you'd wear to the office. This is more suited for evening wear or a special event. In fact the shimmer is almost over the top for little 'ole me, but I'd wear it for a special evening.
L'Oreal calls this a "volumizing" lipcolor because of the intense shine and shimmer, which tends to make your lips look fuller, and I find it does work for me and make my lips look fuller.
The one thing that I don't like about L'Oreal Glam Shine is that the shimmer pieces can migrate to other parts of the skin on your face. If you touch your lips with a napkin, or your fingers, or brush against anything at all, you may find some sparkles on your upper lip or chin.
~ Final Thoughts
Actually I've become quite fond of L'Oreal Glam Shine. I love the way it feels on my lips. My lips feel moisturized and not sticky at all. It wears pretty well, for a gloss - a few hours or so. The shine and sparkle lasts even a little longer. I love the color choices, and it adds just enough pigment for my taste. The shimmer is fairly extreme, so this isn't a casual lip color, but rather more suited for evenings or a special event. It's fun!
