Pros: colors, shine, sexy, long lasting, feels great
Cons: could be too much glitter for some
I came across a sample of Loreal Glam Shine in a magazine. It was one of those samples on a post card that told you the different color choices. I tried the sample, as I often do with samples that I find in magazines. But this time I really liked the results. It was a wonderful color on me and I loved the way it made my lips shine. The color I had tried was Diva and I fell in love with the sample so I went on a shopping trip to find it. Keep in mind that I buy most of my cosmetics through Avon so I don't often go out looking for any makeup. It has to be pretty special to get me out of the house when usually I just wait around for my Avon lady to bring me what I want.
When I purchased my Loreal Glam Shine it wasn't exactly the same as the sample. Of course when I read the sample card again there was some small print that said the sample had been somewhat altered and there might be slight differences. I guess I should have read that from the beginning. It didn't matter much. The differences were slight. The sample was only a slightly lighter shade than the actual product with only a little less sparkle. It was fine. I loved the product from the start. I like to make dramatic statements with my makeup on occasion and this is the perfect lip color for that. I did find that it wasn't always a perfect lip color but I would still say it is my all time favorite.
For evening, special occasions, or dramatic statements you can't beat Loreal Glam Shine but it isn't exactly your "everyday" lip color. So here is the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly of this product.
the good far outweighs the bad or the ugly.
APPEARANCE: First of all it is a very attractive lip gloss. It comes in nine beautiful shades (Diva, Goddess, Starlet, Muse, Prima Donna, Seductress, Princess, Siren, and Drama Queen). If you would like to see these shades they are at http://www.lorealparisusa.com/frames.asp#cosmetics/index.asp
there is a fairly accurate shade indicator there. In addition to the beautiful colors it has lots of sparkles and shine which make your lips look full and sexy.
SCENT: Some people have complained of the scent but I actually like it. Diva (the only shade I have tried) has a nice fruity scent to it.
AVAILABILITY: It isn't hard to find. I know that Walmart, Target, and Walgreens carries Loreal Glam Shine and it is usually well stocked. Sometimes the more popular colors might be gone but they restock it fairly quickly.
FEEL: It doesn't feel sticky on my lips. It is very smooth and for the most part you can't tell that it has glitter in it (see the ugly).
EASE OF USE: It is easy to apply and the lip color stays in place (see the ugly about glitter).
LASTING POWER: It lasts about 2 hours which is really good for a gloss.
there is only two things that I could put into this catagory.
PRICE: For some it might not even be an issue but for me it is kind of an expensive lip gloss. I usually purchase my cosmetics through Avon and I wait until they go on sale to buy. So it is very rare that I would pay more than $4 for a lip color. I paid $7.99 for Loreal Glam Shine. I have since seen coupons for it and you might be able to purchase it for less. Some people would think that $7.99 isn't too much for a lip color and for them I would say it would be a deal but for a bargain hunter like me, this lip color was a splurge.
WAND: The applicator wand is kind of flimsy and I get the feeling that it might fall apart before I am actually finished using the gloss.
Ok, everything has an ugly side and here is what I found out about Loreal Glam Shine.
GLITTER: The glitter is beautiful and it is what makes the gloss so sexy but it can also be a problem. The first time I wore Loreal Glam Shine I had no problems at all. However, with use comes knowledge and I found out two things about the gloss. First of all, don't wear it outside in the sun light. I wore it to a ball game (I know it isn't really daytime color) and as it got hot out I started to be able to feel the pieces of glitter in the lip gloss. It felt like little bumps on my lips. I haven't had this same problem since but I haven't wore it in the sun either. Second, the glitter can travel to all areas of your face. I haven't yet figured out how this happened but one night when I got home there was glitter everywhere. I don't know if I smudged the glitter or what might have caused this to happen but what I do know is that I had glitter everywhere. I have been a lot more careful with it since and haven't noticed anything like that again either but it is a possibility.
I have only used the Diva shade of Loreal Glam Shine and I have been using this product for just over 2 months so my opinion is still developing and I can only speak about the shade I have purchased.
