Cons:will not give flawless skin, won't hide blemishes, hard to get out of the jar
The Bottom Line: There are too many small things that don't work with this powder and they all add up to one huge annoyance.
I am always looking for the perfect face powder. I don't care whether it's compressed or loose, I just want something that makes my skin look as flawless as possible. But I never seem to get it just right. No matter which one I buy, there's always a little something that makes me not want to use it or buy it again.

L'oreals Hydra Perfecte powder is again one of these powders. While it does the job well, it's not something I feel I can use over the long run. There are annoying little things that I don't like about it and, in the end, they all add up to one big annoyance.
This is a loose powder that comes in a 0.5-ounce jar. The jar is a pretty oystershell white with a gray lid. The lid also has a bit of a pinkish sheen to it when the light hits it, so it's something I don't mind having on my dresser or out on a bathroom shelf. There are several shades to choose from, I picked the "light". My skin is not extremely fair, but I don't exactly have that tanned look either, so the light shade works for me and blends in well.
The lid unscrews and reveals a round powderpuff. This is not really puffy, but more an applicator like you would find in an upscale compressed powder. It is round just like the jar. There is a plastic protector underneath the powder puff and over the powder. This protector has several smallish holes and, in theory, this is how you get the powder out.
On the box it says to leave the lid on and turn the jar upside down, so powder will sprinkle on the puff. The problem is that with the puff in place and the lid on, there's no room for the powder to wiggle out. I then took of the lid, loosely held the puff in place, turned the jar upside down and shook it a bit. With about the same result - very little powder ended up on the puff. Certainly not enough to put on my face.
After some trial and error, I have learned a new trick - I unscrew the lid, take out the puff and then sprinkle powder onto the inside of the lid. Then I take my powderbrush and apply away. I have to do this in stages, because sometimes I get way too much powder out of there and it sticks too much to be able to just shake the lid over the garbage can. Then I'm left with a mess inside the lid. But there's almost no other way to get the powder out.
I think I have figured out why that is too. This powder is not light and airy like some others. It has more of a moist feel too it, so I think there is too much moisture in it to be able to shake it loose so it will come out of the jar. This powder is not oily, it just has a moist feel to it.
This powder offers sheer coverage, very sheer. That means it will not cover any blemishes or irregularities on my face. Every once in a while I would like to skip the foundation and just put powder over my moisturizer, but this is not possible with the L'oreal hydra perfecte powder. I tried that once and looked really cakey.
The powder is also very fine. It tends to stick to my eyelashes and eyebrows if I am not extremely careful how I apply it. Once on there it is hard to get off. I tried a mascara brush, but that did only half the trick. I had to take off my make-up and begin from scratch. I simply don't have time to do that every time I use this powder.
My skin tends to break out easily from certain products, but I really have not experienced any breakouts from this powder. I did get a few red spots on my face, but I don't think it was from the powder, I get those anyway every once in a while.
This powder does last very long though. I can wear it all day, even during my workout and don't have to touch it up but once a day or so. Unfortunately for me that means that this jar will last me a long time and it will be some time before I can go out and continue my hunt for the perfect powder.
I am not sure if I want to recommend this one. It just has too many things that don't quite work, so for now my recommendation is not to spend your money on this.
