Pros: Cheap, Wears Well, Super Blendable, Great Coverage.
Cons: No pump bottle, just a screw-on cap.
I am as pale as pale gets, so it's always a challenge trying to find a foundation that will match my skin, and also that has what I require as far as finish, etc. I need something oil-free, something that wears well, something on the thinner side so that it applies/blends easily, and something with a natural-matte finish over the unnatural matte finish. I have very oily skin, so I could use the matte finish, but in my experience it never looks good on me. Last time L'Oreal was BOGO I decided to pick up a bottle of True Match and the matching powder.
L'Oreal True Match comes in a plain glass bottle with a silver screw-on cap. It's been so long since I have used foundation with a cap, these days everything comes with a pump. The liquid is thin though, so it's easy to use and not that much of a problem.
After I washed my face, I applied my moisturizer and primer like I normally do and then poured a little bit of True Match on the back of my hand. I started applying the True Blend and immediately noticed how easy it was to blend, which makes or breaks foundation for me. I used my fingers to apply the foundation, but i'm sure a brush would work just as well, I just prefer fingers.
After I finished application, I stopped to examine my skin in the mirror and I definitely liked what I saw. The coverage was great and not cakey in the least. Generally i'll apply a powder foundation over my foundation to set it, instead of a pressed powder because I prefer the extra coverage, but with this one I didn't have to.
It didn't emphasize dry patches or fine lines, and it did seem to minimize pores very well. After I finished the rest of my makeup, before setting it with powder, it looked even better as it blended with my skins natural oils.
After a good week of trying this one out, I can also say that it wears extremely well. As I said before, I have quite oily skin so alot of foundations tend to disappear on me after a days wear. Not this one, it looked just as freshly applied hours later as it did initially. I did have to blot, but there has never been a foundation I have tried where I haven't had to.
I have been wearing this everyday lately, and I think it's become a new favorite. It's just as good as some of the high-end ones I have tried and a fraction of the cost. If you're looking for a basic foundation with good coverage and a natural-matte finish that will wear well, give this one a try. For the price, you have nothing to lose.
