Pros: Great pop, great finish, doesn't sting, good handle and grip tape
Cons: PRICEY!, paint looks good, but wears away easily
The Bottom Line: It won't make you Barry Bonds, but you will hit the ball farther and better.

| ferrari360's Full Review: Louisville Omaha Gold Baseball Bat (-3) CB7 |
First, I will start with a story. In the town I live in, baseball is a religion. Half the population of kids play baseball (or softball). With baseball as popular as it is, there are a lot of restrictions made so that everyone plays on the same level. These restrictions include bat width and differential (The length minus the weight). These stupid restrictions have cost me over $350 in bats for my now 8th grade son. The restrictions change every year with no warning, and if your bat doesn't meet the restrictions, you can't use it. Because of these rules, I have had to buy 3 bats in 3 years. So when the time comes to buy a bat, my son always returns to the Omaha Gold. First it was the -10 (28 in., 18 ounces, $80), and then came the -8 (31 in., 23 ounces, $110), and finally the -3 (33 in., 30 ounces, $180). The -3 bat should be the last bat I buy (thank god!) because the restrictions don't go lower than that. The reason I didn't buy it in the first place was it was too heavy for my son. Now it is the perfect size for him, and he's doing great with it.
To see why he liked this bat so much, I tried it while practicing in a nearby field with him. With my son pitching, I hit a couple. When I say hit, I mean an into the neighbor’s yard, break a window hit. The balls practically jumped of the bat, flying 250 feet on average. This amazing "pop" is caused in a big way by the material of the bat, C405, a very strong metal and somewhat light material that throws the ball off the bat.
The bat doesn't lack good looks either. The black and gold finish looks really great. One problem with the paint job is, it wears away easily. The bat's paint will scratch and chip away with use, but the wear isn't major.
The grip on the handle is very comfortable and doesn't wear over the years like some of the other bat's grips. It is like leather with padding underneath. The handle is 31/32 inches in diameter, which is a good size for all hand sizes.
Some of the other features include a Pro Cup, an add on the supposedly makes your swing faster by increasing the aerodynamics of the bat. The bat has Sting Stop, a device inside of the bat, preventing that annoying sting when you hit the ball off the handle of the bat.
The Omaha Gold is beginning to come off the shelves, so you can get for a good price now. The bat is available in -10, -8, and -3. The differentials are available in several configurations on each bat. The barrel size is 2 and 1/4 inches on the -3 and 2 and 3/8 inches on the -10 and -8. The handle is 31/32 inches on the -3 and the -10 and -8 each have a 7/8-inch handle. The Omaha Gold -3 is allowed in all high school teams, college teams and most other leagues.
This bat is worth the price, three times over. Hopefully I won't have to pay for anymore bats after this one.
