It's a nice enough place with decent food and hip people, that is continuously recommended by SF-ers who are in the know.
However, it can get quite full so any kind of real conversation seems practically impossible when the tables are so crowded and most of the groups are shouting
It's probably the kind of place that's nice to go with a group of people you already know and you just want to hang out. As for blind dates, romantic dates or any other kind of twosome dinners, I can think of dozens of other better places in the Bay area. Frankly, I wouldn't go again unless someone else was inviting and paying.
As for reservations, until a few months ago,it was quite hard unless you did it in advance and sounded quite nice on the phone.
Food: Food is satisfactory. We liked the pizzas and the veal dishes we ordered, while the pasta dishes were satisfactory but not memorable enough. The drinks were nothing remarkable and the desserts were too rich.
Service: Service can be sporadic. When there are too many people, the ushers can be quite haughty at turning people back and it can take forever just to get a Perrier.
Decor: The decor is supposed to be hip and cozy, and it probably is to some people. But I found it too dark and noisy for comfort.
