| three60's Full Review: LuLu Cafe |
Been to LuLu twice now, once for lunch, once for dinner. Reservations are highly recommended, unless you enjoy waiting and standing in line. However, if you do, it's not so bad as there is a large bar area and even a spacious seating area where you can munch on appetizers.
When you walk in, the first thing you notice is the large open space and the blazing wood burning stove. LuLu is best known for its spit roasted grilled poultry, so be sure to give it a shot.
Reservations: We had no trouble making lunch reservations a couple of days in advance, but dinner, esp on weekends, is much tougher. We arrived on time on both occasions, but had to wait for dinner.
Service: Uneven. While they were quick to warm us up with some liquor, getting the main courses was another story, as was dessert.
Seating: try to stay away from the grill. Not only does it get uncomfortably hot, you'll start to smell a bit smoky by the end of your meal.
Food: Hearty and delish. We ordered family-style and shared the chicken, duck and squab. All were large portions, save the squab. All were very succulent, and the crispy duck was just divine!
Prices: Considering how much food you get, it's a good value. Figure on spending around $25-30/person.
Atmosphere: LuLu is great for small parties of 4-8 people. The decor is kind of like a ski lodge, so it's comfy and homey. It's also quite noisy and hectic.
Overall: Fun to try out! Best to go when you're really hungry, so either work up an appetite or eat a bit later.
