| maggsmomm's Full Review: Luv My Pet Grooming Kit Set |
The Luv My Pet Grooming Kit was an impulse buy. Each time we go to the store Maggie wants something. I thought this would be a great aid in teaching her how to treat pets properly, so it was more of an educational purchase then a whim.
Luv My Pet Grooming Kit Set: Blue & Red Carrier with Brown Puppy is a good toy for any child that wants a dog of their own. It comes with everything you need to care for your new puppy.
The Puppy
He isn't anything special. He measures approximately 5 inches long and around 3 1/2 inches tall. He is overwhelmingly small for such a large carrier. He has big ears, he is a plush. But her isnt the softest plush in the world. He actually quite sturdy.
He is a plain brown puppy, a mutt of sorts. He has no gadgets, whistles or bells. This is a pure imagination toy for your child.
Puppy's Traveling Accommodations
I admit, he has it pretty good. I have had three cats for as long as I remember and only one has their own carrier. His carrier is quite large.
His carrier is luxurious compared to those we carry real house pets in.
Made of sturdy, durable plastic, the carrier is brightly colored in red, blue, yellow and black.
The bottom is red, as is the front gate. The top and sides are royal blue with adequate venting for your young pup. The top has a yellow handle, and the side has a yellow lock so it may be opened form the side.
When opened from the side, the carrier's top flips open. You may also choose to open the carrier from the front, which resembles a red, open aired gate. It has a little handle you lift up, and falls forward so the puppy can be removed from the front.
The blue portion of the carrier is covered with black paw prints.
Puppy's Accessories
Puppy (he has yet to be named) comes with everything you will need to care for your pet as an owner and/or veterinarian.
His care kit includes:
*A Watering Dish w/decal
*A Thermometer made of plastic that has a revolving piece of plastic that has different degrees of temperature
*A Medicine bottle with a decal of puppy on the front
*A Grooming Brush
*A Stethoscope
*A Can of food
*A Bone
*A Ear/Nose/Throat/ Checker
* A Vaccination Record
Worth Your Money?
My child has played with this for hours. The little items were lost within a 24 hour period. She didn't seem real interested in the accessories, with the exception she wanted to destroy them. And she did.
They are made from very flimsy plastic, and smaller pieces like lids, rolling tape in the thermometer, and the so-easy-to-disasemble stethoscope makes these EXTRAS useless.
However the puppy and carrier are constantly used and over all she's seems very happy with her new toy. The carrier has been dropped, kicked and I think I may have tripped over it several times in the middle of the night. The carrier is definitely well made, and the puppy is a plush, so the chances of them becoming toast is slight.
Cleaning & Care
The puppy can be spot cleaned as well as the carrier. The smaller grooming items do have decals so if they actually live to see a bath, I would suggest a light damp cloth. Otherwise the decals may peels off.
Age Recommendation
This toy is intended for children ages 3 years and up. Maggie is almost 3, since she doesn't put objects in her mouth I let her have the smaller toys. However the reason for the age recommendation is because of the smaller parts that could easily become a choking hazard. Use your own discretion along with the manufaters recommendation.
MaggsMomm's Thoughts:
Although at first I didn't think much of this toy, It was a worthwhile purchase. I have kept Maggie from cramming the real cats into the carrier and she know it is to be used for "pretend play" only. She puts all of her stuffed animals in this for rides in the car and pretend trips to the vet. She has played with the carrier more than the puppy. So I am guessing that most children will be drawn to the pet carrier. Mostly you are purchasing the carrier. At 14.99 it was a good purchase because it stimulates her imagination and she learns how to handle pets in a traveling environment.
