MAC Green Gel Cleanser Bridging the Sexes Together "Connecting the Dots" W/O
Written: Nov 16 '06 (Updated Nov 17 '06)
Pros:Works well, nice design, does what it states
Cons:A bit pricey... then again isn't that the case with all cosmetics?
The Bottom Line: I didn't think I would be buying MAC products for myself. Never say never.
Courting a woman is an art form. I got a crash course when I was getting to know my wife (well, she wasn't my wife at the time, but you get the drift). and there were a few things I discovered very early on: Women love chocolate, handwritten love letters and makeup. But a long distance relationship is hard to maintain. The only way to bridge that distance is by sending out packages filled with chocolates, handwritten letters and makeup. The first two was easy to do. The last... that was going to be a bit of problem.
I don't know how it happened but one day I was shopping at the MAC cosmetics counter and purchased some lipglass to send to my wife. To make a long story short, the ladies at the MAC counter knew me by my first name over time. One day I was asked why I didn't treat myself to something since I was here. I looked at the saleswoman and thought "What is she talking about? I don't use makeup." Little did I know she was referring to the other items MAC has to offer, things that were unisex in nature. One of these said items was the MAC Green Gel Cleanser.
I get oily skin from time-to-time so I was willing to give this a try. The MAC Green Gel Cleanser comes in a white bottle with a very simple design. The bottle is only 150 mL (5 oz) so it doesn't seem like a lot. However, the saleswoman told me that I didn't need to apply much cleanser to my face. I only need to put enough liquid, roughly the size of a dime, in my hand and lather it up before spreading it all over my ugly mug. Keep in mind that both hands and face must be wet when applying.
I can actually feel a difference as I apply the cleanser to my face. As described it really does make my skin tingle. Strangely enough, that makes me feel better to know that it's doing its job. The foaming gel both nourishes and hydrates the skin throughout the whole process. I really appreciate that. I hate it when my skin goes dry after washing it with soap. The green gel cleanser contains an oil-soap and alcohol-free formula. What does this mean? It helps reduce the amount of pores showcased all over the face. It also controls the sebum production, the oily secretion released from the body through the skin. This is important, as the green gel cleanser doesn't totally strip the skin of this process every time it is applied. Nobody wants chaffed skin. For the ladies, it is pretty effective when removing makeup and any excess oil from the skin.
After rinsing my face, it feels lighter and cleaner. I use it probably every second day. Amazingly, one bottle will last me for a good few months. I do know if you have sensitive skin, the tingling will be even more prominent than usual. Also, keep in mind not to apply it too closely to the eyes as it will sting if not rinsed off thoroughly.
Do I like it? I have no complaints against the MAC Green Gel Cleanser. I've been using it for five years now and haven't missed a beat when it comes to purchasing this product. It's definitely a personal preference and I know my wife enjoys using it as well. She also likes the recycling program offered by MAC Cosmetics. Wait, you don't know about it?
If you collect six empty MAC primary plastic containers (it can be anything) and return them to a MAC store or online, you will get one free lipstick (any type except for the ones that help charities such as Viva Glam). This is MAC's part to its commitment to the environment. Hey, everybody wins. I sure did when I courted my woman.
