Pros: Doesn't flake or smudge
Cons: Doesn't really enhance the appearance of lashes- Really a waste
The Bottom Line: I would skip this one, due to it's poor results.

| tracmd's Full Review: MAC Pro Lash Mascara |
On a shopping trip several months ago, I stopped in a MAC store to pick up some mascara. I opted for the MAC Pro Lash. I was pleasantly surprised by its $11 price tag. Sure, it's quite a bit higher than drugstore makeup, but its rather reasonable compared to other high end makeup.
According to MAC, Pro Lash is:
Lengthening, thickening, non-flaking, non-smudging... totally hard-wearing. Sassy and lush. Works on the catwalk, soups up the sidewalk. Tested and approved by Artists. Industrially packed; commodity-priced. Gives you attitude. A real hardworking mascara that is lush and luxe in its finish. Good to layer.
The Mascara comes in a basic black .25 oz plastic bottle. The brush comes to a slight point at the end, but is otherwise straight. The bristles are well dispersed. I have found in my many mascara using days, that if the bristles are spread out too far, the application of the mascara will be poor.
The mascara comes in Coal Black or Charcoal Black. I opted for Coal Black, the darker of the two. When I pulled out the brush, I noticed that the mascara seemed to be thinner than others I have used in the past. Usually, I find that mascara tends to have a thick liquid, almost goopy (for lack of a better word) texture, often causing one to use a little pressure to remove the brush from the bottle. In the case of Pro Lash, it required no effort to remove the brush.
As I brought the mascara toward my eyes, I instantly noticed the smell. There is a moderate unpleasant smell to the mascara. I find that this is very common with most mascaras, unfortunately. I am quite allergic, and the smell did bother my eyes a bit. But, I carried on.
I applied a coat of the mascara to my eyes, starting at the root of the last as the directions indicate, and brushing up to the ends. Usually when I have applied mascara, I have noticed some tension of the brush moving against my lashes. In this case, the brush moved easily against them. I immediately sensed that this was a bad sign.
When I looked at the results of the first application, I was disappointed. My lashes didn't look "enhanced" or "defined" as MAC stated they would. My lashes looked the same length, and same thickness as before. Unfortunately, they now were clumped together in sections. I decided to add more coats. Now, according to the directions, you are suppose to allow your lashes to dry and then apply the next coat. Usually, by the time I finish applying the first coat of mascara on my second eye, it is OK for me to apply the second coat on the first set of lashes. Well, this wasn't the case. My lashes were still quite wet, probably because the mascara was so thin. When I applied the second coat, my lashes became more clumped together. They did look a tiny bit more defined, but minimally. Did they look better than before? Yeah, I'd have to say they did. Did they look great? Absolutely not. I don't have the longest or thickest lashes in the world. This mascara only changed mine from their natural brown to black, and then added a teeny weeny bit of something extra.
On the plus side, after wearing the mascara for hours, I don't find that it flakes off much. It also does not smudge. Plus, my lashes feel rather soft. When I have tried other mascaras in the past, I have sometimes felt like I had porcupine needles sticking out of my lids. With Pro Lash, my lashes feel almost like there's nothing on them....Well, that's probably because it looks like there's not much on them. I am able to remove the mascara easily with my eye make up remover. It is not waterproof, so it will get all over the place if my eyes tear.
To me, an ideal mascara is one that will make my eye lashes look more pronounced, longer, and thicker. MAC Pro Lash doesn't really accomplish much of any of those things. Do I believe that Pros would want to use this stuff? Absolutely not. As an amateur, I don't want to use it either. I'll use it until it's done, but then I'm on to something else.
