Pros: awsome sound, very solid construction, slim design for factory applications
Cons: nothing except a bulky x-over but thats hardly a con
when i received themb quart qm 218.61q i was a little sceptical of the "price to sound quality" ratio so i installed them which was quite easy considering the x-over size, i have them in a 95 astro bi-amped with 80 to each tweeter and 100 to each mid-woofer,rms by the way, i also have a 10 and a 12 hooked up to a 2000 watt 4ch. amp for the boom. well i have to say at first i was quite dissapointed, the soundstage was, heh well just not there, the highs were loud but also harsh and very bright. But then i noticed the plug inside the x-over that said tweeter -3db -4db and -6db well i tried them all and with each step these speakers get fuller and smoother at -6db the imaging is incredible u can really actually HEAR the mid-woofers quite well and they are smooth, very smooth. they carry the voice of diana krall as if she were there, man i can only imagine what these would sound like in a home audio application, the highs were detailed enough to carry the crash of a high hat, yet subtle enough to play a perfect flute solo. the mid is incredible it almost seems as if u have a seperate midrange and woofer, the way this two way component handels all the frequencies is amazing, listening to john coltrane's summertime through these was nothing but a privelage his brassy trumpet just sounds sweet on the mb's, now dont get me wrong ANY kind of music can and will sound good on these speakers, damn good. Ive listend to dynaudio's, focal's flagship utopia and while they might have sounded better, they did not,in my opinion, play to the price. the utopias are about 1200 dollars give or take a few hundred if u find a good deal. dynaudios are about 500-800 depending on which model u select and do sound quite amazing. But for about 350 now these speakers are an absolute steal and are a WAY better sound for the money. i give these all my fingers and toes way WAY up, mb quart has once again outdone themselves.
