daddym's Full Review: MGA Entertainment Bratz Magic Make Up Studio Plays...
For a short while my daughter was really in to Bratz, and it seemed every present she got from everyone we know was Bratz oriented, now she only plays with them when friends are over, but she still has quite an assortment of Bratz items. One of the items that she has is the MGA Entertainment Bratz Magic Make Up Studio Playset with Katia.
This play set comes with one doll, the of course being Katia. I don't know a great deal about Bratz toys but Katia has kind of a redish brown hair color, and her hair is long as well, like most Bratz. You can also get this set with Yasmin an Katia's outfiut is almost identical to the one that Yasmin wears in the Bratz Magic Make Up set.
She wears a light colored silverish white mini dress, with a silver belt sash an matching shoes.
There is spray glitter. Which spray glitter on the hair or boy. This set also comes with a salon. It includes two base pieces that snap easily together. There is a water feature on the base pieces that requires batteries. For the water feature to work you simply add water to the sink. The set also comes with a chair. The chair actually fully reclines.
The complete set includes: stencils, tattoo pens, body glitter gloss, eyebrow makeup, top eye-shadow, mid eye-shadow, iris color, eyelashes, lip color-as well as props that encourage the imaginative play that comes with the "salon"-the mirror, styling tools, TV set (pretend not real), and water bottles.
The makeup in the set is safe for both doll and humans and the girl can make herself up just like she makes her doll up. It is very easy to wash off.
We had a bit of trouble figuring out the glitter pen, and my daughter needed help working with it herself, in all honestly we were not exactly thrilled abouth the glitter pen.
The set costs about $40.00.
The set is pretty cool for girls I would assume. There is a lot for them to do, and they really liked working with the make up, but we had to ban this set from my daughters room as she got some of the make up on her carpet and we wre not really happy about that. This became a toy that we had to store in the closet, and that my daughter had to get permission before using. One because it has the potential to get messy, and 2 because it is not so great to have your young daughters face full of badly applied make up just before you head out to a public function.
My daughter likes to get this out when she had friends over. My wife has played with the girls as well, and she gave my daughter and her friends makeovers. Of course we got their parents permission first, and some additional make up was used.
All of the working parts work nicely and have nice affects.
This is a nice set, but definately one where you may want to have played with while you are around to make sure you don't end up with make and glitter stuff all over the place. This set is more appropriate for older girls. Girls should be at least 8 years old to play this. Younger girls will likely make too much of a mess and lack the coordination to work with this kind of toy with make up.
Best age range is actually from 9 to 12 years of age.
For the appropriately aged girl and under the correct circumstances this is a really neat toy.
