| augusta13's Full Review: Konica Minolta Dynax 5 35mm Film Camera |
After spending countless hours researching for my first SLR, I decided on the Maxxum 5. The reviews I read (Popular Photography, etc.) felt that this was one of the best cameras for the money. I had a Yashica Point-and-Shoot (120 Zoom) for the past six years, which I enjoyed, but felt that I wasn't capturing the quality of pictures I wanted of my children. After receiving the Maxxum 5 three months ago, and numerous roles of film later, my only regret is that this camera was not available when I bought my Yashica a few years back. Since I'm a novice, I wanted point-and-shoot simplicity with SLR-type quality pictures. But, as I learn more about photography, and want to begin to control my settings, I will have the flexibility to do just that. If you are thinking of upgrading from a point-and-shoot, this is an incredible camera. It has the auto modes, just like a point-and-shoot (potrait, landscape, sports, etc.), but you can also customize your setting as well, once you are comfortable. I bought my camera at Etronics.com and had a great experience. I paid $299 and a few bucks more for 3-day shipping (arrived in two days!). If your situation is similar to mine, you will not be disappointed in the least!
