| jvalente's Full Review: Konica Minolta Dynax 5 35mm Film Camera |
I purchased the Minolta Maxxum 5 QD camera after selling off all my unused Nikon N90 equipment on ebay. In my opinion, the Maxxum 5/5 QD is, by far, the best value for the money in the entry level SLR camera market. All I can say is what a gem! I'm not going to go into all the features this camera gives you-- It works quite fine right out of the box. For those special situations, its custom programs and manual mode will fit the bill quite nicely too. However, its size is what sold me. I have always had trouble with my old Nikon body because my hands are so small. This was the main reason why I sold the N90 (an excellent camera too by the way). But, the Maxxum 5 QD's size and weight is perfect for anyone who has run into this problem with other cameras. Now, I carry my camera bag all the time. Granted its not built as sturdy as a "professional camera", but for us non-professional-types, you will not be disappointed. I paid $335 off ebay for the body & Sigma's 28-70/70-300 zoom lens kit. Hopefully soon, I'll upgrade to Minolta lens' especially the 50mm 1.7 prime.
