| rshook's Full Review: Mtd Yard Man 17.5 Hp/42" Zero Turn Lawn Tractor D6... |
I have about an acre yard and wanted a rider. The Zero Turn is essentially the same as the Yard-Man 17.5hp models with the steering wheel & hydro. transmission but this model adds the zero turn feature. I love it! It takes some time to get used to tight turns and avoid tearing the turf but it can be done once familiar with the controls. It's a blast to park and will go anywhere to get those tight areas. I touch up the yard with a weed trimmer and I'm done! Quality of the mower seems high, easy starts, the electric PTO engages the blades with the pull of a button. Plenty of safety interlocks prevent you from doing not too smart things. The engine is a little noisy for my taste but it's no worse than other tractors. Pricing has been reduced from last year! I got mine at Tractor and Supply Company (TSC). Ease of use: my six year old has mastered it though some may prefer the steering wheel. Mine has a cracked front panel at the attachment point. One call to MTD and I had a new panel in three days! Super service.
