I have been a HUGE car audio fanatic for the last ten years. Ever since I was capable of driving, I have had a desire to blast my speakers at levels that werent fit for anyones ears. This has led to thousands of dollars in purchases, countless maxed out credit cards, and eventually led to a huge interest in the car customization business in general.

Over the last ten years, I have done countless installs on my own vehicles, my friends vehicles, and customer vehicles after I started up my own customization business in 2000, which eventually would be put out of business, by the economy crushing September 11th. Porous
Since the time September 11th, I have still maintained a great deal of side business, including work done for a local shop on a need basis. I now perform the majority of my installations as more of a hobbyist than for income. This affords me the opportunity to try out the latest equipment and improve the car customization scene within the state of Alaska.
MTX X Thunderlink XT110P Powered Subwoofer
Ever since Bazooka started rolling out with their line of powered subwoofers, other manufacturers have attempted to tap into the market. One of the products that has been thrown out since Bazooka came on the scene is the MTX Thunderlink. Basically, the thunderlink is a lot like the Bazooka Bass Tube, except that the thunderlink is quite a bit smaller and more contained. This means that it is capable of supporting many more vehicles than the bass tube could. The Thunderlink comes in a relatively small plastic casing, which housing the internal amplifier, along with all of the wiring. On the oustide of the Thunderlink you'll see a variety of different wiring options, as well as the controls for the unit itself. The number of wiring options allow you to just plug in and go with your current receiver. This makes installation a breeze for anyone that knows how to use basic tools.
Another great thing about the Thunderlink is that you can place it on it's side or standing up. This gives many more options to where you can place this unit within your vehicle.
Overall, I was quite impressed with the sound quality of this unit. Unlike many of the other powered subwoofers, this unit had very little distortion, almost none really, and it really put out a high quality sound. While this is a relatively low level subwoofer, it does create more than enough bass for the majority of applications. For the average consumer that just wants a clear, crisp bass sound, this is an excellent product. The bass is strong enough for regular riding and everyday blasting out, but will come nowhere near enough to be able to do too much impressing for power.
The nice thing about this speaker setup is that the sound quality greatly compliments factory component systems and doesn't require any other additional items in order to make it operate efficiently.
From my tests these speaker are quite reliable and sturdy. They are surrounded by a solid plastic case which makes for a great protective barrier. This also protects the majority of the speaker from outside damage. I have seen these speakers dropped on a few occasions without much damage. The speakers would still hit just as hard, and besides a few scratches, they were just as good as any other product available.
The speaker itself seems to hold up to some of the most extreme operating environments. They are able to handle long powerful loads over a period of time without issue and without a degradation of overall sound.
Personally, I really like the streamlined look of these speakers. They have a nicely designed black casing, with an excellent looking grille, that really adds to the overall look and feel of the item. The controls are mounted nicely in the front and are easily accessible if you find the need to change a channel or raise the volune suddenly.
