| ann_bell's Full Review: MacArthur Park - Palo Alto |
MacArthur Park is famous for its package dinners, which caters to large groups of people, mostly corporates.
I've been to this place twice, courtesy Microsoft. The last time I went there, was in a bigger group of almost 30 people. They have 2 floors. The upper floors are pretty dingy, and there isnt much room to move around. But what I liked about our table, located on the upper floor was that the floor had cool see-through railings so you dont feel clostrophobic. It does tend to get extremely crowded and quite noisy.
Now this information is very important. There are two ways to get there. One is via El Camino and the other via University Ave. Dont take the one via El Camino. Cuz its so ironic, you can see the restaurant right in front of you, but there is no driveway to pull into the parking lot and you'll land up either going in circles or parking at the nearby Stanford Mall, if you can find parking there. Its best to take University Ave from Alma St and loop sharply to land straight into the parking lot.
Though I read about the food not worthy of the price, I must say the food and service were very good. It serves American cuisine. I cannot comment much on the wine. Both times I had their house merlot which was pretty good. Get their caesar salad. The dressing is yummy and they top it with anchovies. Their shrimp or chicken entrees are delicious. You may also want to try their specials (particularly seafood). For dessert, get their mud pie. Its a treat for coffee lovers who don't care much for them extra calories. If you do care, the lemon squares are just about right for you.
