I think the Magellan ColorTrak is one of the best GPS systems. I started out with the GPS systems a few years ago. I had paid just under $1000.00 for it. There were some drawbacks, but I thought it was pretty good. Then Magellan came put with a new series of GPS's. Since the ColorTrak came out at around $300.00, I went out and gave one a try. I was blown away by the responses! It was just amazing how quickly it positioned its self with lots of satellites, while you have to wait a while for others. It is great in the woods or on the road. The old GPS would barely work inside the car. I would have to stick my hand out the window, just to get good reception. Now, I can stay comfortably in my car, and still get more satellites.
Its easy to read color screen makes it easy to see at night. I use it when ever I go on any road trips. It tells me what direction to go, how much distance I have left, and even how fast I'm going. I get about 30 hours of run time, just with four AA batteries. The meter tells you exactly how many hours you have left. It is truly amazing. The best part like stated earlier is the price drop in this GPS. It is great to start out with if you don't want to go out spending big money on your first GPS.
