| adventureman73's Full Review: Magellan GPS 315 |
I hadn't actually considered buying a GPS before; I'd heard about them, used them in the Army (huge stinkin' things) but never wanted to put out the money to buy one myself. Then I got the GPS 315 for Christmas in 2000 and I was hooked.
The 315 is a great small GPS and has tons of good features. When I'm in town or driving, it grabs a sat signal quickly...but I've had some trouble when out camping or hiking in the mountains. Could be where I'm at, in a natural canyon area, but that's the point of GPS right?
The mapping, compass, speed and waypoint features are all great and work very well. It's small, reasonably light and fits well in the hand. I do wish it came with a belt clip or case, though...that would make it an even better product.
